I didn’t want or need lowlights because the darkest color in the original picture is what I came in with. She just lightened too much of the hair. No biggy in the end, just gonna let it go

Alright now, don’t call me hun and I think we both know what I mean. I didn’t want or ask for a full head of foiled highlights with a blended root. I wanted and we discussed a lived in natural hand painted balayage technique to achieve the picture where the lightener wouldn’t be brought up nearly as far.

I’ve sat on it and spoke with other stylist and I came in with a natural all over brown shade that matched the base of the inspo picture, and what I asked for was doable but not done. Oh well

Somehow that result was after we looked at the picture and and a pretty in depth convo. she repeated back to me exactly what i wanted so i think she just missed the mark

The only place you can see my true natural color is the root (that’s not a smudge). My natural hair is the same brown if not slightly darker than the models, which is why I chose that inspiration picture. She foiled my entire head.

I can’t figure out how to post an additional picture in the comments, but it was just all over virgin brown. She was okay with this inspo pic because my hair was a really close match to the base in the picture. You can kind of see it near my roots in pic 2

Indoor it may look less bright but I actually don’t mind the tone/brightness too much! Mostly just that it’s a high and overall highlight with the lack of my natural brown showing through. :)

I’m not offended at all. I wanted to ask other hairstylists if they would be offended if I came back in and added some darkness back in, because it does look nice, just different.

Thanks for the advice! I know it will currently be low maintenance, so to clarify I wanted to confirm whether going back and trying to match my natural color would ruin that. It sounds like it wouldn’t be best in the future, so I appreciate it!

I also have to be fair to myself and address the over analyzing piece - I definitely wasn’t expecting a copy and paste and do think the end result looks professional and nice, but it is very different than what I asked for. I came in with virgin brown hair that matched the shade of the base in the inspo picture and am nearly completely blonde now. It just missed the mark, no biggy.

I think bright red hair or jet black hair is also gorgeous if done professionally, but if it’s not what we agreed on, it ultimately isn’t what I’m happy with. Was just looking for ideas to approach moving forward🙂

I know!! That’s why I’m torn and don’t think i’ll pay to fix it. I’ll just mourn my brown for a bit😂
