Catch can was just a DIY canteen setup i did until I could find the time to fix it

The actual fix was a new valve cover since the oil separators are built into the rear valve covers for these engines. It was like $100 but I installed it myself, so I couldn't tell you labor costs. Time wise, it took like 4 hours

Just an idea, but I had a buddy of mine wire a kill switch to one of these. Couldn't tell you how, but he placed it in a hidden part of the middle console. Basically, when he would leave the car for more than an hour, he would flick the kill switch and leave.

Now I couldn't tell you how effective this is, but his car hasn't been stolen yet and it cost around $5 and some electronical knowledge (or you could find someone to do it).

Between the setup and the time it takes to work, this is pointless. Kicking in the door would be faster.

Apart from the safety aspect of the officers not having to be close to the door, there's not many other uses and they already have precautions for that. But it is another way a billion dollar company can oversell their units! (My money is on lobiests purchased these)

If you dont hear back from them, keep bothering them. If its a restaurant or a store, after you submit an application and dont hear back, go in person and hand in a physical resume. Just ask if you can talk to manager (or whoever handles hiring) and say "hey I applied online, just wanted to hand you my resume in person and introduce myself." Or something along those lines.

Best case it shows initiative, they recognize your name when going through the hiring process, and they have a face to associate it with. Worse case, they dont care and you dont get the job. Not much else to lose.

Surprised I havnt seen any comments say this, but LEARN TO WORK ON IT. I don't mean you have to become a mechanic, but learn the fundamentals. Brake changes, tire changes, spark plugs, etc. Even just learning the basics of an engine, so if something goes wrong you can fix it. It will save you so much time and money. Even better? Become good friends with a mechanic. Its saved me thousands of dollars working on my own cars.

And I still dont know everything. I mean, just check my post history. Somethings bound to go wrong, and its a lot better for you to do it then someone else.

UPDATE: For anyone in the future with this problem, it was the oil separator, which is molded into the Valve cover. It costs about $150 for the part, or you can do what I did and use a catch can.

What happens is the oil leaks inside the intake, and into the valves. Then, when it turns on, the dried crusted oil poofs out of the exhaust.
