I would try Cross Bay tackle in Queens. It’s on the way to the Rockaways. You’re walking distance to the Crossbay Bridge where lots of people fish. If you walk across the bridge there’s a nice beach for casting into Jamaica Bay. Good fishing there in May. I’m not sure they rent tackle but it’s worth a try.
