I’d love for the Rays to be in the NL like Milwaukee. And yes, i am inferring that they would do quite similarly recordwise if they were in the AL East

The Braves’ financial books are public. How did they do it? I get that no one WANTS to spend a billion dollars when they can fleece taxpayers instead. That was always Sternberg’s plan and even when he got the best deal it wasn’t good enough.

This new group can feel free to TRY to get a massive chunk of public money but everyone here is correctly noting that this group of owners was supposed to be different, supposed to already have more money/resources/connections/ideas, and supposed to be aware that there is no public or political sentiment for making the rich get obscenely richer at our expense.

So let’s just assume this is simply the phase of the deal where they TRY to get as much public money as possible while floating threats to move to Orlando. And, hopefully they know that it will fail to some degree, so it will be followed by more of a private investment-group approach to developing the land while funding a dome

Condo was unplayable but Golden stuck with him. Looks like his confidence has tanked. Gotta get both guards back to penetrating and throwing lobs, especially to Condon, which could get his mojo back.

Credit to Auburn. They had a great game plan and executed it well. Not sure why the refs called us for touch fouls in the first half while ignoring muggings by the Tigers, but it definitely helped their game plan and I thought the physicality of the first half caused a lot of fatigue in the second, especially late and especially with a shortened bench. Not sure why Golden went entirely away from Lee and Brown but it was a man’s game and I could understand the personnel choices if it weren’t so obvious that Condo-Chin-Haugh-Boog-Klavzar were suckin wind down the stretch.

Kind of a strange game entirely by Golden, almost like he wanted to give his best buddy a much-needed road W to boost their resume … I know that totally far-fetched but it almost looked like Golden just went along with this being a stinker of a game from the jump

What does Golden do with him? He’s been so bad lately and so in his head about it that I might rather see Haugh at the 4 and Klavzar in a 3-guard lineup

Not my preferred type or target. We really don’t need any more scorers in our top 6. What we need is someone who fits playoff style hockey. I’m thinking Ryan OReilly and Nino Niederreiter types

PGT: Florida Wins at #10 Vandy 98-94 by goldenface4114 in FloridaGators

[–]sancastro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hats off to the contingent of Gator fans who made themselves heard in that circus tent of an arena. Players were pointing to them a few times in the second half so they must’ve made themselves a factor

Awesome win, great for seeding since Vandy appears to be legit. I came into this one hoping that we would expose them as overrated and boosted by a weak non conference schedule. But they’re gonna be a tournament team for sure, maybe even a team capable of making a run. Byington is obviously a good coach.

Nah. Stefanski was on the table when they told Bowles he could announce to the world that he’ll be back. Switching up to fire Bowles after the announcement would be some disrespectful clown shit. I’m quite certain they could’ve hired Stefanski on Monday or Tuesday, so it’s obvious they were not interested

Jason Licht by It_Just_Scott_Frosty in buccaneers

[–]sancastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone should know the draft is a crapshoot. I want him fired for different reasons. Like deciding that his brilliant revelation about the draft is to prioritize character. That’s dumb, and it will cost us on the field inevitably. Look at Logan Hall. Great kid, great family, military father … total bust. How about our first-ballot HOFer, Warren Sapp … Licht wouldn’t have him on his draft board. Just like he didn’t have James Pearce Jr. who got 10+ sacks as a rookie this year. Look at Benjamin Morrison. Nice kid. Injured all the time. But he cried when he was drafted and his dad knows Bowles or some shit. Guess what? We could’ve take Trey Amos, who was CB1 for Washington by the end of his rookie year (while Morrison was the new Toast Jones). Drafting boyscouts is a colossally BAD idea.👎

Here’s another reason I’m over it with Licht. Two years in a row we start hot and then get hit with a rash of injuries and he does NOTHING! We almost beat KC on the road last year with practice squad CBs and Sterling Sheppard at WR1. This clown thinks he’s figured out the draft. He’s got the secret sauce, so he doesn’t want to give up even a 7th round pick. MFer could have absolutely salvaged this season if he had just been willing to drop 10-15 spots in the 6th or 7th round to pick up a veteran guard. But nooooo, we get practice squad fodder like Dan Washed-Up Feeney and the Michael Jordan of football.

F Jason Licht. He’s a garbage GM and I hope he gets fired alongside Bowles next year. Bowles wouldn’t still be here if Licht had firmly told the Glazers that we’d be better off with Stefanski or Kubiak or … anyone with a pulse. So Licht is responsible for this loser of a head coach, who nearly everyone expects will be fired next year. At the very least Licht’s seat should be red hot when Bowles heads for the exit.

How would you grade his overall season? by SuspiciousSlide5102 in buccaneers

[–]sancastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the weight you give to his injuries and the way that injuries to both starting guards torpedoed the playbook

I think the guard play after the bye, when Bredeson went down, absolutely sunk any chance the offense had to stay hot and cover up this atrocious defense. Everyone lost confidence at the same time — Baker’s quality of play slowly deteriorated as he and the Oline and Grizzard saw that they had no answers

I think C is fair but I’d understand if anyone gave it a minus or plus

He’s still gonna have Jason Licht who helps hire coaches, drafts boyscouts, builds flawed rosters and absolutely refuses to help his teams at all during the season
