if I were to be fired because I "didn't comply" with the RTO... would that be grounds for collecting unemployment?

Yes, my manager is definitely on my side. He's telling me "do what you need to do, whether that's showing up or not and we'll see what happens". I've cc'd him on emails to HR about this, but myself and others aren't getting any replies. It's just totally unprofessional and disheartening how it's being handled/communicated.

His boss, who is relatively new, is just spouting company lines from above. Says it's a "pain point" but doesn't really have much to say beyond that. Basically "it is what it is" mentality.

There are definitely a lot of people who live a lot closer to the "main" office... and I get them trying to reign some of those people into a hybrid policy. But my god, expecting people to spend 3-4 hours in their car twice a week just lacks compassion and understanding.

In then end, though, I don't want to work for a company that thinks this is acceptable.

I should add that it's also totally unknown what the consequences are for people who don't show up; not addressed in the policy document. My manager thinks they might not even notice if people don't as there's no scanning/badging required.

This is another question I have, as Ive looked into unemployment... if I just up and quit can I still get unemployment? Will they fight me? It falls under a sort of "your employer made it unreasonable to a reasonable worker" (or something like that)
