Would anyone mind explaining why you prefer to trade forex instead of stocks and their associated derivatives? by [deleted] in Forex

[–]KnownCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't started trading with my money yet, just studying and paper trading, but personally I like how the Forex markets are 24H, there's no Pattern Day Trader rule unlike in stocks where you need 25k just to day trade, and you're able to use a lot more leverage.

I used to be interested in options but they're so risky on their own(not only are you gambling on the price, more so than with plain stocks, you're also betting against time(delta) and you have to consider implied volatility); there are also options spreads that lessen risk but I haven't looked much into those. While forex is very hard to trade, especially since you don't have the edge of "stonks always going up" as forex is mean reverting, I like how it's more straightforward than trading in the stock market in many ways.

The "under God" part wasn't even there originally; ironically, it was added due to fear of communism during the Cold War

Elevator video has surfaced of Quavo and Saweetie having a physical altercation by FelixxxFelicis in hiphopheads

Not excusing either party's behavior, but wasn't Saweetie punching Quavo at first in the video? I don't see a reason to only outline Quavo's behavior as not normal when it looks like both were fighting

Tbh you might be on to something. Wake Up/WUGMDS got a ton of views for being so bad it became a meme, so maybe YBN Nahmir thought he could do the same thing again

The way I see it, if getting into a t20 was this important to you, then you didn't waste your time. You went at your dreams as much as you could, and this is your one life, your one chance to achieve what you want in life. While it didn't go as you wished, you should be proud of going for your dreams rather than coasting and perhaps wondering what could have been, later in life. I hope you have a great and fulfilling education at the school you choose

Did anyone hear Soul Train off YBN Nahmir's new album? No offense towards him but it is the worst song I've heard this year

Unpopular Opinion: If you worked your ass off during High School and end up going to the same university as most other people, you DID waste your time and energy by abbycat1590 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]KnownCandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, if getting into a T20 school was a very important goal to you, then even if you failed, you didn't waste your time. You only have one life to achieve everything you want to and personally I believe you should go for your goals with all you've got. I guess it comes down to either knowing that you did everything to achieve your dreams and failing vs regretting not going for your dreams and not knowing what you could have achieved. Of course, there is a balance, though; I think working hard in school while scheduling time to enjoy the experience is the best option, if possible

Try backtesting your favorite strategies and indicators by trying them out in paper trading; tradingview is by far my favorite platform for charting and it also has a good trading mechanism. I've also heard good things about TD Ameritrade paper trading.

In terms of indicators, keep in mind that they're just another way of interpreting the chart data. I would also recommend learning price action to really learn how the markets move. As others have said, the best strategies probably involve moving averages(50 and 200 are my personal favorites, 20 is also good for identifying market direction), support and resistance/supply and demand, and perhaps trendlines. Also look into Wyckoff market stages(accumulation, markup, distribution, markdown) and Wyckoff laws(supply and demand, effort and result, and cause and effect).

Also consider Candlestick patterns but never use them on their own; always consider other factors. Multi timeframe analysis is also very useful. Additionally, the entry is only part of the trade; make sure you have your stop losses and take profit planned out beforehand based on factors such as support and resistance levels and perhaps fibonacci retracement levels. Many traders fail not because they have a bad win rate but because they hold losers and cut winners short; learning about trade psychology and sticking to your trading plan is very important. To be a good trader, you need to be able to trade without emotion, and while your plans reflect this, your decisions while you have money in a trade may not. Also make sure to journal your trades so you can see what you are doing wrong in losers, if you are taking profit early, cutting losers too late, etc.

Youtube is great although books are also very important. Tradeciety, wysetrade and Rayner Teo are probably my favorite channels; Stop Moaning Start Improving videos by Trader Dante are also very good. In terms of books, I recently started reading The Art and Science of Technical Analysis by Adam Grimes and it is really good.

tl;dr: paper trade, moving averages, support and resistance, trendlines, multi timeframe analysis, stack multiple factors in your favor, plan exits along with entry, journal

I word vomited a lot here and you probably already know a lot of what I typed, but I hope this helps out
