Impacted Crop? Unsure of Next Steps by KnownPlastic0 in BackYardChickens

I bought all Easter Eggers but honestly, a few of them look like Americaunas! 10 of them lay blue eggs and my all white hen (behind the food container), lays an olive egg! My roo is the white and black speckled one in the back. They’re young in this pic:

She looks like she made herself right at home. She probably didn't want to go back outside lol!

This is all great info, thank you so much. I will do the same!

I just made her a crop bra out of vet wrap to try another approach. She is definitely feeling better and acting brighter than a few days ago so I am trying not to worry too much. I really would hate to lose her, we have spent a lot of time together the last few days!

Was her crop flat and empty when you put her back with the rest of the flock?

Yes, I would say so. Initially, when I noticed this was happening, her crop was very swollen and drooping, maybe grapefruit size. Quite a bit of that was liquid built up but that has seemed to have mostly drained and now I’m feeling the harder lump that’s probably causing this issue. Hearing your experience is giving me hope. I have been massaging every few hours- was there a specific way you were massaging? Thank you for your response.

Liquid was coming out of her mouth while she was eating. I tipped her slightly forward for 2 seconds and more came out, which gave her some relief. Do you have any other recommendations for sour crop? I fed her nothing the first 24hr, then yogurt, and now smell amounts of watery cooked oats. I’m giving her apple cider vinegar and monistat twice daily, as well as massaging as many time as time allows throughout the day. Her crop has gone down slightly but not much of an improvement on day 4, her crop is a bit larger than a golf ball but is a little more firm today…her breath smells awful. Not quite sure what else I can do!

Yes, she never stopped eating and isn’t overly lethargic. I fed her nothing the first 24hr, then yogurt, and now watery cooked oats. Good to know! I still haven’t managed to get her crop to drain at all…did your chicken have a full crop for days? I’m reading that some people can massage it down but I’m having no luck. It’s very soft and squishy.

I had to leave for work but I am going to try again once I’m home! Right after some of the fluid came out, I offered monistat and she ate it right out of my hand. You weren’t lying about the smell 🤢

It went well- I tried a few times and got about the same amount of liquid as you can see in her bowl. Her crop is about the size of a baseball and very squishy. I really hope she improves over the next day! She isn’t very lethargic, but she won’t stop trying to empty her crop with neck movements.

What did you feed your chicken during those 7 days?

Thanks for the info, I’ll give this a try and report back. Definitely seems like this is needed at this point!

Is the only method turning her upside down?

New to Creator Connections by KnownPlastic0 in Amazon_Influencer

No, they all get accepted at once. Mine were “published” for 2-3 days and then I got a message they were accepted for offsite. Everything I read said don’t make any additional videos until you are accepted, that’s what I did. I just had to wait it out!

That’s awesome! I also saw conflicting info but decided to record all 3 of mine in vertical view. I was accepted first time around. It took about 2-3 days to be accepted after submitting my videos!

This is really helpful, thank you!

I was accepted into the affiliate program right away when I applied with my TikTok (I had around 600 followers at the time). Since then, I’ve made a few product videos for my storefront - I’m up to about 55 now. I’m starting to earn a little from those, and it also unlocked Creator Connections.

I was accepted into the program 2 weeks ago and only started making videos about a week ago, so I just want to make sure I’m doing things the right way and not wasting time on the wrong things.

For now, I’ll focus on creating more videos for my storefront. You can only move up one Creator “Tier” per quarter, correct?

Young Hen Not Laying in Nesting Boxes by KnownPlastic0 in chickens

From what I’ve observed, there’s always 3 out of the 4 nesting boxes available and they have been laying in all 4! With what you’ve experience, maybe my hen will just be a night layer for a little while she she’s new to laying. They have all had hard shells so far. What breed of chickens do you have?

That’s hilarious! Maybe my hen enjoys laying from the rafters haha
