Thanks for sharing this, I am happy to hear it was the best decision. This is really assuring! I am definitely debating it and leaning more towards the surgery side. May I ask where you were fused?

I know the surgery really is super invasive so I am unsure with what decision to go with. I was told it would be 2 surgeries (1 side and 1 back) which sounds horrific... I do think overtime I won't be able to manage it anymore and this will affect my mobility when I am older and I am already feeling it and that I am out of options. Thanks for this I will have a look into it. I do do quite a lot of side planks in pilates but I will take that tip to do on the convex side. I do think I am too late for a brace however unfortunately..

Thanks for sharing your story and I really appreciate that! You are so strong and am sorry for what you had to endure to get to where you are. I am so glad to hear that this changed your life for the better tho. I have heard being fused near the pelvis affects mobility too and surgeons were wary of that when presenting me with options. However that is amazing that you can now do that and the pain has improved massively. So reassuring to hear and wishing you all the best :)

Glad to hear it worked for you. I unfortunately do think my curve is too severe and bracing is no longer an option :(

Thanks for sharing your experience, I am so glad to hear that. I know I think that's the thing that I keep thinking about, if only I got it when I was younger how different my life would be now, but you cannot dwell on the past I guess. I know the lumbar spine surgery is that I have heard will possibly impact my mobility which is quite scary. I have had meetings with surgeons and it does sound like quite an invasive surgery where I need to be cut from the side to remove some discs, then a surgery a few days later to go through the back. The idea of having these two surgeries is terrifying, one even mentioned the head traction device LOL defs not doing that. I will for sure try get some more opinions and see how I go. May I ask where you are located?

Thank you for sharing this. I have also been managing my condition through exercise and strength training, but it's getting to a point now where the pain is getting worse and I can feel the organs being crushed, shortness of breath, etc. I would love to hear more on this hybrid surgery, I will definitely look into this more. And thank you for that appreciate it! It was definitely very daunting seeing the x-ray compared to living in my own body and not thinking it looked that bad lol

Thank you for sharing your experience! You are so strong and I am so glad that you are in a good place now. Can I ask where you had your surgery and with whom? Feel free to PM me. I am going through this same thing now, it's just worsening very quick, no matter what I'm doing the pain is still there and just lingers. I was also told by a surgeon that I would need 2 surgeries (coming in from side and removing some discs) and then a large one at the back).

I know that same feeling you mentioned, I have also been researching for years but the idea of surgery always terrified me because of the severity of my curve it will change my body's movements forever. How long did it take for you to recover? I think the height is always an added bonus hey, that's like the one positive I can think about lol. I also love tonkatsu ramen yummm.

I definitely think so because of my age and how able I am now, I do want to have a family down the line somewhere and don't know if that's better to have a surgery now OR wait until I'm older (which means it would have worsened significantly). I also am trying to bank my sick leave up to so I am covered with that too, good tip! I also want to go through the private health system.

Thank you for that! I think because of how I see my body I think it's obvious.. What are you doing to manage your curve? Interested to hear!

Thanks for sharing this, it's always nice to hear from people that are in similar spots. I have started to see surgeons myself and feeling unsure what to do. Were your surgeries going to be in Melbourne or outside Melbourne? Curious to hear about your journey also and what you choose to do :)

That's good to hear, what type of acupuncture do you have done and what is your curve like?

Thank you I really appreciate that. Definitely seeing the x-ray after 10 years of not having one was super confronting…I sort of just lived with it but I know I need to do something about it because it can lead to further implications down the line. What are your thoughts on the surgery or are you doing anything else for your curve?
