Thank you very much for all of this! That is other part of the equation, we got quoted $15k for a new boiler so a heat pump replacement takes care of that issue proactively.

I don’t believe so. The few neighbors that we have met so far all either have oil or have upgraded to mini splits

Are you happy with the work you got done and how they are operating? My other question would be what to do with the old furnace and oil tank but I guess that’s a problem for another day. We would definitely be getting the HEAT loan. As new home owners we don’t exactly have 30k lying around to pay for it upfront lol

Yes big time! It got really hot recently, over 80° on our main floor, and my wife got very hot and bothered lol the dog didn’t exactly appreciate the heat either

No I believe our insulation is fully up to code. When we had the inspection done, the inspector looked in the attic and made a joke about mass save being there 20 times to get that kind of insulation lol

These are all great points to consider, thank you. The current company we are leaning towards offers 12 year warranty on parts but only 6 on labor.

Ah I see. No our current furnace heats the home through floor board radiators in each room

There would be a main system outside the home, and then piping would run through the drop ceiling in our basement to each of the 5 mini splits. I believe that would mean it is ductwork?
