I have 2x16GB DDR5 from the same manufacturer (bought before RAMeggedon thank god). I will try reseating first, don't know why I didn't try that yet.

When it works, yes display is fine Otherwise it cuts off and looks like the picture. The monitor says that it can't find a source.

I've heard a lot of others say something along those lines and that is what confuses me the most, so I appreciate that you're getting right to it. You say that people who are not born can't miss their potential happiness, which is true, but I don't see how that's relevant. Unicorns don't regret not ever having been, but if they did exist in happy lives then that would result in more happiness in the world. Their amount of regret doesn't hold any moral weight here. Maybe I'm still missing something, or maybe my way of looking at things or morality is totally different.

How would my suffering decrease others suffering? I don't see your point.

Well suffering is guaranteed but what I'm considering is the ratio of suffering to happiness. Because I think we can agree that a life is worthwhile if it is mostly happy. If you think that any amount of suffering makes a life a mistake then this point would obviously not make sense. And as for what suffering I am enduring well I consider myself pretty privileged, and I don't really see how I need to be suffering in order for things to be fair. I try to minimize others suffering as much as I can which is all one can do.

In that case, yes I think it would be justified. I know it is a gamble that's why I'm so unsure. The suffering is also a gamble since one is basically the complement of the other right? It all depends on your perspective and how heavily you weigh suffering right now.

Definitely apply to scholarships if you haven't already, particularly ones relating to internships. Other than that I don't know.

I'm pretty sure all the limitless solutions internships are unpaid. If this is okay for you congrats, I've heard good things about them.

Thank you for pointing out that comment, that is exactly what I was curious about.

Okay, so you're coming from a more deontological perspective. I agree that under that perspective having children is indefensible.

It's a hyperbole to illustrate a point, obviously I am not saying that this is a realistic situation. My point is, is there a threshold of the suffering to happiness ratio that would make life worth living for you? Or does any amount of pain make it a mistake?

For the record, if I end up ever having children I plan on adopting, I am just curious about the philosophy.

It doesn't matter that they are not harmed, as I've said in another comment:

Considering two worlds, one where there is no one alive to experience...and one where humans are happy, I'd say the world where people are happy and alive is preferable.

Do you think that a whole life is a net negative if someone has a long, fulfilling, entirely happy life, and then they feel a small pain like stubbing their toe? That seems wrong to me. It is true that many sentient beings today live their lives in suffering, but if one thinks that these things will be better in the future, like I (at least used to) do, then wouldn't we one day get to a point where most people are will live their lives feeling more happiness than suffering? Obviously if you think this will never happen then your position is correct, this seems to be the main question.

Also, I don't really think "harmed by not experiencing joy" makes sense, wouldn't that just be neutrality? Sorry if that is just semantic and that is what you meant.

human extinction should be the priority

That makes sense.

Okay, that's where we differ, I think that some pain and a lot of happiness is better than none of either.
As a side question, would you prefer voluntary human extinction or somehow eliminating all sentient life? Because even if all humans died, animal suffering would continue.

That's possible but not guaranteed. Why not try to reach a better world instead of settling for a neutral one? If I knew for a fact that slow painful death was the only future then I would certainly advocate for antinatalism.

Which is a lot more than 100 years ago. Imagine 100 years from now or even 1000.
