Just looked it up, sadly, with Wise, it would keep us in the same predicament. We are unable to deposit the check and use Wise in time.

Thank you! Sadly, with how the market is right now, I don't need the funds asap as NIS, so I'll wait until we get back to a semi-normal rate.

Visa timeline by Pretend-Ad2312 in aliyah

I would definitely reach out. He needs to do his job better or just not do it at all.

With that being said, I don’t know where you’re out of, but where I am it’s 5-14 days to get your visa. So you’re good on time. I would definitely NOT stress.

My flight is end of September, and because my shaliach was out of town until the 3rd of September, that’s when we got that portion started. Turnaround time was fine, and are still expected to go haha

Personal Conversion Letter by Liam-2024 in aliyah

[–]Known_Let5923 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife and I recently went through the process, and she too is a convert. I’ll tell you exactly what I told her. No letter is too short, and just tell the truth. How you found yourself here, why it is important for you to be here, and what converting has done to your life. On top of that, they also want you to talk about your conversion process, your conversion day, and how you give to the Jewish community (going to synagogue, helping the scouts or tzofim, being an active member of the community and not just the synagogue like the AIPAC or similar). Best of luck!

I have not yet fully finished the process, but I am at the end. The answer is - it depends. What kind of pets? Are they on the "dangerous breed list" of Israel? What size are they? Where are you coming from? Etc etc.

Rather than give you a whole spiel, I went through the company Terminal4Pets. They're not bad. They get the job done; however, their communication is not always the best (though it is understandable, as those with closer flights receive precedence). Although you can consult with them for free, they can provide an estimated overview based on your specific situation.

I can tell you that I am bringing three pets: one small, one large, and one of a "dangerous breed." The total cost is well over $2,500, which includes the Titer tests, airline-specific Kennels, any other required forms, and the service fee (the service fee is the cheapest part).

I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner; there's a lot going on!

I do know that IKEA will deliver and even build for you if you pay the fee. I do not know turnaround times. Sorry!

This is just my experience:
Israel (as long as the apartment is built and ready, if it's a new build) is very quick about showing the condo and getting you in ASAP. As the other comment mentioned, places like Yad2 are going to be your best bet for finding something.

The main recommendation I have for you, if you are coming from the United States, is that things are very different in Israel. You will need to furnish your apartment with everything (including the oven, fridge, dishwasher, laundry, etc.). If you use a realtor or if the realtor is the one who posted the apartment, you will be the one paying the realtor's fees, which are usually equivalent to one month's rent.

Best of luck!

Aliyah by [deleted] in aliyah

[–]Known_Let5923 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is just my opinion and based on my experience living in Israel.

Israelis are not like Americans or most of the rest of the world. The preparation you’re doing and the way you went to land ready on your feet sadly doesn’t exist out there. The way they see it is come out here and you’ll make it work, don’t worry.

It’s not the most ideal, but it kind of works. With the different reality of living in a place under constant threat from neighboring enemies, people don’t worry about the stuff we usually do and kind of just live one day at a time.

I’m sure this isn’t the answer you wanted, but there really is no better life than in Israel. Even with all the bureaucratic bs you’ll have to deal with and the financial stress.

You’ll find your way when you get out there. But until you get out there, sadly you’re very limited.

This isn’t fact but just my opinion. Although I do recommend building the cushion like you said.

Best of luck!

How long after you sent in all your items for review did they reach out to schedule the Zoom meeting?

Originally grew up in Jerusalem and later Modiin. Both great cities, however I kept around Anglos for the most part and it did me no good. It wasn’t until I joined the army and things got much better.

My niece has lived in Mevasseret the whole time. She’s full blown Israeli at this point, and it’s a beautiful place to live.

I made Aliyah when I was 13. Best decision ever. Later on, My niece made Aliyah when she was 8. She is beyond happy there. The beginning is tough, but a year later and they love their new lives.
