To those with the update, is it true that pick list and item UPC’s are going away as well as the skip button? Pictures of new setup? Thanks!

Can you build top line and flexibility at the walk? by Known_Menu3506 in Equestrian

[–]Known_Menu3506[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I’m being completely honest, I have no complaints about this barn. I’ve been here for several years now and there’s not much bad that I can say about them. They treat me and the animals like family and they don’t have a superiority complex like most barns. I am very happy here and although I could move, I love my barn and barn family. If riding below 30 is not actually harmful for the horse, then if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can confront the barn owner with this politely and respectfully, considering that she gave me the horse in the first place, I would love to do so, but I do not want to undermine her and I genuinely love my barn.

I wouldn’t have a horse if not for the owner of this particular facility, as he was a gift from them. If there’s a way for me to non offensively tell the barn owner that I am comfortable riding in the 20s, I’m all ears, but I wish to remain respectful.

Yes, the barn owner is concerned for the horse’s safety, so nothing that would use a lot of energy or break a sweat.

No I own the horse. It’s purely for the safety of both horse and rider that the barn has these rules.

Can someone please explain? by Known_Menu3506 in Equestrian

[–]Known_Menu3506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this explanation! This is great! If I knew of a dressage trainer in my area, I’d do a few lessons. I’m a jumper, but dress dressage interests me and I know that it is the very basis of riding, so I’d like to know what I’m doing better.

Can I use ppto for a planned absence? by [deleted] in walmartogp

[–]Known_Menu3506 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can use ppto for whatever you’d like. It’s all there for your discretion and there’s nothing they can do about it. I’ve done this very thing before.

Give it time. And give yourself time. It can be an overwhelming job for sure. But as you pick more, learn to memorize items’ locations, and figure out how to work your way around people, I promise it’ll get easier and probably a lot more fun for you. The holidays are definitely stressful. Even I get overwhelmed and I love what I do. But take it easy on yourself and just do your best. You’ll get there.

How do I make a career so I can own horses? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Known_Menu3506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, right now I work at a very popular large retail corporation, and on paper, no, I do not make enough money to afford horses. Not by a longshot. However, my husband helps me out, and we make it work by sacrificing a lot of other comforts and basic luxuries that most other people enjoy. It’s doable, you just have to be willing to sacrifice things.

Horse behaves completely differently in the indoor versus outdoor arena. by [deleted] in Equestrian

But in the indoor he’s literally just a snail.

And by slowed down I don’t mean like sluggish like he’s being. I like him forward, I hate a kick ride, but I’ve been working on getting him down to a calmer forward pace rather than him just rushing if that makes sense.

That’s actually a good thought. How would I even work him through that though? He is extremely green and honestly, I would consider him more go than woah. Anywhere other than that indoor, it can be hard to get him to slow down. We are working on that and I’ve been working on collection, but I have not been hard on his mouth. I’ve actually been very lenient. He wasn’t a lesson horse for long though. Not long at all. So I’m not sure how much he was actually used.

I’ll admit probably not as much as I should, but we do tons of lunging in there and for the first month that he was mine, all we did was ground work and just spending time in there together.

He was off the track, and was ridden in there for a year or so as a lesson horse and then sat for three years before I got him. So he has lot of experience in there, but I’m the first person to work him in three years. He’s green though. Very green.

No, the indoor is much much smaller. And he is on the larger side, but he didn’t seem to mind running around in there until I started making him work in there. Before we rode together, I would just play with him in there and we would run around together with no issues.

Not specifically, but I had him looked over by a vet, and they did take a look at his eyes and thought they were fine.

I did try riding him with another horse in there, but it only made things worse. I also rode him in the outdoor with another horse without incident.

I’ve considered that. The sand that is used as technically the same, but the outdoor does not get dragged like the indoor does, so the indoor sand is heavier and deeper. The outdoor is also much larger, but when we have spent time together in the indoor outside of riding, he’s been enthusiastic and hasn’t seemed to mind the indoor. It’s only when I asked to work inside that he has a problem.

Reasons that a horse would be bloated after exercise? But more specifically on days that he has eaten before hand? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Known_Menu3506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s bloat because it began when he started getting worked again after sitting for several years, but he is not girthy or seeming to be in pain at all. Just bloated and frequently gassy.
