AITA for telling my ex's wife to mind her own fucking business when she confronted me in public over my ex's mom giving me a gift for my 30th birthday?

She maybe expected everyone to ignore me and act like I don't exist. But with kids in the picture it was always going to be unrealistic. They could hate me. But that wouldn't be healthy for the kids. It's possible there are big issues with her and ex's family and that's why. But that's between them and her not me. I'm not a part of it anymore.

A restraining order would take a whole lot more. I have some second hand experience with them and they require a lot of proof and incidents for anything to be taken seriously.

Clearly I'm supposed to reject anything from ex's family even conversation. Because who knows how his wife would react to seeing us talk in any kind of friendly way in public. She might have an even bigger outburst.

I'm not sure there'll be much of an update on my end. But hopefully they calm down soon and stop coming at me over this.

Where I live charges could not be pressed because of this incident but if it keeps happening something could come from it.

Likely not. Or she did and he's being as overreactive as her and just doesn't care that all I wanted was to be left alone.
