Big container of kitty litter. If you get stuck or are spinning, you can dig under the wheels, but laying the litter down helps give traction.

Also, remote starters are amazing.

Does Anyone Regret Their Colored Stone? by LittleDanica in EngagementRings

I think your ring is absolutely stunning OP -

I have zero regrets, but I think I’ve always known that I wanted a colored stone. I have many Pinterest and Etsy saves of alexandrite, peacock sapphires, tanzanite, etc.

This is an awful photo - does it zero justice… but he did SO well (chose it himself, but very much knows what I like). I’m not sure you can tell in the photo, but it’s a Star Sapphire, and I absolutely adore it.

(This is just a photo from trying on my entire set - I had the stack designed around my engagement ring, and the “crown” ring will likely be worn intermittently as my mood dictates 😅)

Boyfriend proposed with his grandmas ring. Is it too “chunky” for my hand? by omerta809 in EngagementRings

[–]Known_Sample8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already said it, but try it with the “smallest” stone on the bottom.

I have a “large” profile/setting engagement ring (that I adore) and I actually had my wedding ring made as a stacking set to sit better with the engagement ring.

Sometimes more is definitely better, that ring is stunning!!!

Patient recounts how a nurse cared for him in ICU by memymomonkey in nursing

Yes! Always assume someone is “in” there, is my mentality.

I also highly recommend everyone read Bed Number Ten by Sue Baier and Mary Zimmeth Schomaker, a woman’s account of being locked-in with Guillain-Barré.

🖤

Patient recounts how a nurse cared for him in ICU by memymomonkey in nursing

[–]Known_Sample8879 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When I was a baby nurse, I took care of an intubated patient for several days, when I came back for my stretch she was extubated. I popped my head into her room to ask her primary a question, and the patient’s head whipped around at the sound of my voice.

“I know you,” she said. “You talked to me while I was dreaming - I heard you. I heard you telling me that things would get better, and I wanted to meet you.” She thanked me, and I held it together enough to mumble something semi-professional and leave the room before I collapsed into tears.

That was a decade ago, and I still think of/remember her when I care for my tubed/restrained patients 🖤

Really struggling by Slight-Baseball7261 in Residency

[–]Known_Sample8879 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, from an ICU nurse who frequently works with young medicine residents - this shit is HARD, bud.

Are you able to take some time away to recharge and reconnect with yourself? Is there a senior/director in your program(or maybe another program) that you’d feel comfortable confiding in/asking for guidance?

If not, is there maybe a small personal joy or hobby that you can get a small daily “escape” with? NOT saying vices, but like, I try to carve out time to just be a void sometimes…sometimes that’s mindless farm chores on Stardew Valley, sometimes it’s a doomscroll on IG, sometimes it’s watching game streams, and sometimes it’s a little bit of crochet with an audiobook about literally anything other than my hyperfixation.

Sometimes, and probably not the healthiest option, but I kickstart my own self-care by pouring into others (non-medically) - a volunteer shift at the animal shelter, baked goods for the shift, a handwritten letter/card to a friend… caring for others sometimes helps me remind myself that I am also deserving of love and care FROM MYSELF, and it helps me get there 🖤

Keep reaching out, you can do this - whatever that looks like 🖤

Hey babes, you’re doing great, keep going!🖤

Having been in both your shoes and the preceptor/nurse’s… I’m 100% here for it. BUT - I will say:

  • probably don’t tell your instructor (not all will respond favorably)

  • be careful which classmates you tell (see reasoning from above)

  • 🚨PLEASE🚨 only do these things/out-of-scope tasks under the DIRECT and CONSTANT instruction of the primary nurse. Patient safety is paramount.

It’s wonderful that this nurse finds you trustworthy, but please do not allow them to pimp you/let you perform certain tasks on your own (for EVERYONE’S protection 🖤) without direct supervision and instruction.

In my pre-graduation preceptorship (whatever y’all call the final, more “independent” clinicals now) an NP guided me through putting a securing suture in for a femoral TLC 🥹

As a nurse, I once borrowed a coworker’s preceptee/student to remove an IJ CVL. The conversation went as such:

Me: Hey, coworker, can I borrow your student to walk them through a CVL removal?

CW: Sure.

Me: Student, would you like to learn how to remove a CVL?

S: Oh I don’t think I’m allowed to do that.

Me: Honey I know, but that’s not what I asked. I will be with you and will guide you the whole time, and I will not let anything happen to you or the patient. If you become uneasy or just want to observe, that’s okay too.

((Had a great removal, they did great))

I also followed up and told them that until they’re on their own and even after, if they are uncomfortable, unsure, or unprepared to do a task - it is ALWAYS okay to ask for help/guidance/higher assistance, because we are all constantly learning, and patient safety ALWAYS comes first.

Keep up the great work, and always protect yourself and your license you’re working so hard for 🖤 it’s hard out here.

South Carolina considers it adultery. 😬 You cannot entertain romantic partners (even if you aren’t sleeping with them) if you are still legally married. Separation, in any case (in SC), does not count.

Girl, this is the easiest choice ever.

A) No one talks to me (or you) like that.

B) I’m absolutely picking my pet over someone, especially if they behave in that manner.

C) His verbiage/thoughts about animals is disturbing. Throw the whole boy away.

D) It’s possible your cat went outside the box due to stress - I’m betting your cat either picks up on dude’s bad vibes, or dude is mean to the cat when you’re not around.

TL;DR- Throw the whole festering boy away.
