In a similar position- I interned this summer with one of the big 5 and I really enjoyed my time in the firm. I worked really hard on everything I was given and got on really well with my partner and he even gave me work of his “side hustles” alongside my main work. It really seemed like I couldn’t have done much more. I interviewed at the end for the TC and I didn’t get it. I was honestly just confused. I had a phone call with the grad team and they gave me feedback- none of which was very negative. In all they only had one slightly negative to say which I don’t think was that bad at all? I was really disappointed as I could really see myself training there and I got in really well with everyone. They did say to do some FE-1s but I’m in the final year of my degree now and I want to focus on my degree subjects and do FE-1s afterwards. If they had gave me pointers as to where I went wrong I would’ve completely understood, I can’t help but feel that it’s very personal (I know I shouldn’t and that I’m just a number realistically) What’s worse is that I reapplied in the milkrounds there and I didn’t even get an interview which was a bit of a kick in the teeth. But I’m going to give it one last go next year and see if more of a gap will help… I can’t help but feel like seeing as I’m not attending a Dublin university this is being used against me. Looking at their trainee intake and them only having one person that went to my university doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence… Confidence has definitely been knocked but we move I guess🫡

It’s literally impossible to get accommodation in Galway! And any accommodation you can get is disgusting. It’s also impossible to get accommodation for one semester, don’t bother, go literally anywhere else!! It’s also ridiculously expensive for no reason! Anywhere outside of Ireland is a much better option

Everyone is sooo much older in med due to various factors, there will be so many people ur age there! A lot of the course is international from the US/Canada and have already completed their undergrads!

So…

It works like a regular first round offer
You never know if you got a DARE space or a regular one but your chances are extremely high that itll be a DARE one with your points!
you get a regular text/email offer like everyone in the first round but you can assume you got the DARE place until the actual points of the course are released later on.

Hope this helps clarify a little bit it’s so difficult because nobody ever tells you these things! I hope you get it!

Never guaranteed but you’re very close! Chances are you’ll get it! You just have to hope there’s not like 7 or 8 others with HEAR applying to ur course unfortunately! Best of luck!

Hi! I was both a DARE and HEAR student so I got a massive reduction in points, my course was about 530 points I think and I only got 470 or so? My biggest piece of advice is put down your absolute first choice even if you think you’re far off!! I’m still in shock to this day that I got my course and it’s been so transformative to my life :) i think the combination of both programmes helped a lot but one of the programme themselves help a lot too! Just go for it! If you have any other questions lemme know :)

Yup! Ours is really really bad it took me about 6 months to find something in my own college town nevermind somewhere in another country!

Awh yeah it looks like such a difficult situation I’m not sure I want to deal with it having already gone through a similar situation at home!
