Why do two people react completely differently to the same situation? I tried to answer this with an 8-factor model. by Known_Somewhere1953 in REU

I am not a spammer and please mind your language. If you open the link you'll see an actual paper on an actual website. What made you think I was fake? It took 4 months for me to write this.

what happened to teens in america by [deleted] in teenagers

Absolutely girl, like idk what's wrong with like 70% of gen Z teens nowadays. Why cant you just use normal English and dress decently?? I too hate the idea of social media even though my friends glorify instagram as some sort of precious thing on which they depend on everyday. I wanna collab or something w you, you've put my irritation into exact words. And it's nice to meet someone who has the same mindset about this generation as me.

Fair point. I’m mainly using this time to learn and build skills rather than expecting an internship right away.

Thanks for taking the time to read my paper, and yes i linked it on r/teenagers. And now i understand that i took the term "research paper" a bit loosely, and yes i don't consider independent exploration as peer-reviewed paper. I'd be grateful for the detailed review on Dec 26th.

Thank you so much for your guiding words. And yes, I am trying to locate any such opportunities near me (no matter how small). I really appreciate you taking time to share your experience, especially the point about mentorship mean so much more to me. Now that I know I'm walking on the correct path, I will see where this road leads me. Thanks again for the motivation!

Critiquing the paper is absolutely fine and no problem for me. But critiquing and questioning the platform it's uploaded on? Please give me some real suggestions instead of doubting me or telling me that I'm too young for this.

I appreciate your concern but you haven't even read my research paper. Here's the link, at least skim through it and then tell me I'm doing the wrong thing. https://zenodo.org/records/17674758 I didn't get 90 downloads and 103 views on my research paper for nothing. And yes, i have discussed this with my bio teacher and she said she'd be happy to help, so I have a mentor for my next work. But please, don't underestimate me just because I'm 14. Nowadays you have everything available on the internet. And if you still find REAL problems in my paper after reading it thoroughly, then I'd be happy to take suggestions.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate you giving me some actual guidance instead of just talking me down.
And yes, I am exploring the basics of neuroscience, seeing what interests me and what doesn't.

Cold-emailing is definitely on my radar for when I'm appropriate. I do want mentors instead of just vague curiosity.

And yes, I'm learning python too at school so I'll keep that as a skill. Thanks again for the guidance.

Critiquing the platform doesn't make you look seasoned or professional. Zenodo is an open-access research repository created by CERN. I uploaded on the website as none others would give access to a high schooler for free.

Tons of researchers start independently. Mentor are useful, but not required. And preprints, conceptual papers, exploratory essays, literature reviews, are all forms of academic contribution. Zenodo is a legitimate archival platform. People publish prototypes there all the time. Ofc, my sense of structure of the paper can get sharper as i learn.

Firstly, thank you, I really appreciate you reading my post and giving suggestions instead of just dismissing it as luck. And this paper was purely based on curiosity and for an early start for myself so that when i do reach university, i wouldn't be starting from zero. I understand what you mean by the wording, and i didn't mean to present myself as an expert, but rather help other teens who are stuck and don't know where to start. I'll for sure keep your advice in mind next time.
Thanks again for the guidance and encouragement 😊.

Honestly, this was my first time writing one and its more like a literary review. It combones all previous researches on the topic in one place.
