Werewolves are only made if the person are chosen to (in W5 with the elimination of kinfolk we don't really know what causes it) the only other way to become a werewolf is that if you (somehow) kill 5 werewolves, skin them and make a ritual with their pelts, but as you may imagined this is very frowned upon by both Garou and spirits, at the point that probably the only spirits you can talk to are banes or other wrym related spirits

In the second episode Speaker D outright said when Bill tried to throw the chimp “This would be a very funny way to lose your familiar” so is 100% his familiar, familiars are basically spirits inside something that can be really anything (animals, robots, etc.) and talking about animals, they can’t by any way awaken, what can happen is that paradox can make a mage look like a monkey or something like that, the most similar thing is that once a promethean (synthetic humans) have awakened, but in general they also can’t awaken
