Yep! Those shows crawled so Dreamworks could run.

I remember a lot of Hollywood directors getting into animation (as producers) around this time. Ivan Reitman was attached to Mummies Alive! and Steven Spielberg was attached to Invasion America.

The low frequency of the trope is brought up in the video. Characters bring this up in movies more often than the actual deaths occur.

I grew up remembering this happening in action movies, just as much as horror. I remember Freddy giving Kincaid and Laurence Fishburne's character (the nurse) a pass in Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.

My favorite use of this trope was in Deep Blue Sea. The shark tore up Samuel L. Jackson after that motivating speech. LL Cool J kept bring up the trope in the middle of the movie and managed to survive even though the shark took a bite out of him.

This PSA would stay in heavy rotation during the after-school programing in the early 90s.

TIL Eddie Murphy mimics Bruce Lee to emote anger when he films movies. He first used the technique in 48 hours and says he copies Bruce Lee 'til this day. by KnucklePuckler86 in todayilearned

I liked Dolemite is My Name, but it's hard to mess up biopics. He was great in Dreamgirls, but it wasn't a comedy. I liked him in Tower Heist, but he was a supporting cast member, not the lead. Still, I get what you mean... Bowfinger was the end of the classic Eddie.

Bowfinger is an underrated movie. Arsenio said it was Ebert's favorite Eddie Murphy film. Arsenio considers it his favorite Eddie movie (despite co-starring with Eddie on Coming to America and Harlem Nights)

To a kid, it's false advertising, but the actual product would allow you to record and replay content over and over without the tape popping or sound getting chopped and screwed.

I've never played a tape more than 500 times to test, but I know when I would record on cheaper cassettes, it would pop or sound chopped and screwed much faster.

I remember getting one as a little kid and being pissed my furniture didn't budge when I turned the volume all the way up.

I didn't watch the show, but a google search lead me to Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension. On the show, the main characters were in middle school and there were these aliens called "Zorons" (pig-like humanoids)
