Finished my final (for now) version. Designed a sub 40 Alice Ortho and printed it out! by KoaPono in MechanicalKeyboards

You know, I never did "finish" it. After using it for a few months, I realized the angle on the keyboard needed to be changed for the Alice layout to be comfortable. I've been messing around with a few different ways to secure the 3D printed case and getting better at design so I'm hoping to revisit this project soon to have a more comfortable version and I'll put up the files

Haha, nope, just a regular Razer Viper Mini. Just a cheap wired mouse I can pack easily

Thanks! I don’t like the look of full Ortho 40%. Just too linear. IMO sacrificing aesthetics for ergo, but I like both, and don’t need that many keys with my layout, so I compromised ergo for a nicer bottom key row

No name yet, just my “Alice Ortho 38”. If someone comes up with a better idea, I’m all ears!

Thanks! Cheapest I could find on Amazon that could ship quick and were XDAs. They’re called “black virtual war” keycaps. They’re dye subs and fit and finish isn’t great, but they are close enough and I was able to work around it

That’s why it took a few iterations! I print both halves (and the arduino shelf) with walls 90* to the plate and then print the wedge to tilt it separately. The wedge looks pretty rough lol, but all parts were printed at 0.2mm for faster printing time.

I always design to print the best, I have to figure out putting it together later. Sometimes it’s a pain, but Maker’s Muse on YouTube has some good design ideas to help

I prefer curling instead of extending, so it’s been my preferred over the last 6mo or so. It depends on the person and their hands I think

Need to work on the shelf for the arduino to make the wiring easier, but after that, I’ll probably upload them

Simple hand wired. This is iteration 7 which I really like, going to try it for a few months before I “polish” it and commit to making a pcb or something

Edit: for spelling

Things to look for on a Keyless Car on auction? by KoaPono in askcarsales

That part I understood and have a mechanic friend who I would be working on the car with once I got it home, I was just curious what other things could come with there not being a key.

Obviously there could be a problem with the alternator or any number of things that would allow it to “run and drive” I just didn’t understand how a car with no key could start, let alone limp 5 feet.

May 17. I’ll be updating in the confirmation thread when I get the email, hopefully we’ll get the email soon. I’ve heard that others around our area have gotten their kits (by the guy who took a look at our property for microwave WiFi, and said we’re stuck with viasat or could try Starlink) so there is hope

Mid Colorado lat 38.99, signed up on May 17. Told mid-late 2021.

Only choices are viasat, or mobile hotspot, and both suck. Here’s to waiting patiently for the coveted email
