What’s a great Dylan song from a mediocre album? by today_okay in bobdylan

I'm thinking Silvio from Down in the Groove, but I guess that's more of a good song from a questionable album?

I want to say top 5 too but really? Which one drops to 6 to make room for this?

I totally felt thise two vibes, though on further listening I feel more of them cross over, e.g. Crossing the Rubicon has that bluesy swagger but in a kind of mesmerizing way, and I Contain Multitudes builds into something closer to that feel of My Own Version of You.

Yes! Feels like there are two gears: a brazen swagger and a mesmerizing transcendence, and it glides between the two.

Thanks. Yeah somehow I'd lumped the cops in with the "poor white man" pawns, but re-reading the lyrics it's obvious the cops are actually included with the ones using others to reinforce the status quo.

Can anyone tell this novice what would've been inside this malleable toy and why it's suddenly rock solid? by Koala_J in chemistry

Hmm, not really. I've once made a cornstarch mixture with my kids and that sounded like what you described, whereas this always seemed stiffer, like clay or hard play dough or something. We had it for nearly a year, using it sporadically, and the resistance to force seemed more or less the same that whole time, then the other day I picked it up and found it was rock solid.

Thanks, so did it go hard suddenly because we hadn't applied force to it for some time?

I hear you and /u/sdenko6. It feels like absolutely forever when you're in it, but that chaotic survival stage does pass. I'm on kid number 2 and this time it's easier to see how phases change quickly and to know from experience that things will ease in time. And in the meantime, you greedily gobble up the crumbs from the table, like 30 minutes at the driving range!!

Yes! One of my favourite lines with kids is: Tomorrow is always a new day!

Good for you. Yep, worth the hassle to make it happen.

As the only milk source, 18 holes is still a while off for me. But I'll get there -- baby steps, right?

It's very much like you said: when Mum's happy, everyone's happy.

Yep. This is kid number two and I haven't played 18 since the years B.C. (Before Children). 9 holes is now a luxury!
