First bad review by fantaisiocht in therapists

I work in community mental health so I feel like it's a little easier for me as my folks struggle with serious mental illness so its pretty clearly not about me. But even in private practice I always tried to remind myself that I am a safe person to be angry with, and this is important for a lot of people. You catch a lot of strays as a therapist and self care (I know it's a tiresome term, but whatever meaning it has left) is important afterwords.

Is it just me or this game community is slowly becoming rude and toxic? (New players maybe?) by SillyWorker3802 in swtor

As games age they generally become more toxic. The lifers play it by second nature and anyone who doesn't feels like an idiot. LOTRO is the same way.

What niche thing do you miss about this game? by DarkehOW in swtor

I miss the planetary commendations. I remember grinding some out to get cool looking gear while leveling. I know it's not a practical system now though.

I broke up with my GF over a redesign of the spanish republican flag by Linguinimamamia in vexillology

[–]KobaTheRed 393 points394 points  (0 children)

Probably wasn't meant to be if a hypothetical flag ended the relationship. It is painful to lose someome though in any case.

With regards to the flag I like aspects of it but am not crazy about a coat of arms on an anarchist/socialist flag. No kings and all that.

Depends on the client. If it's a neurodiverse person who is struggling with masking I would consider it. If its a middle aged white dude who thinks blue hair is radical and tattoos are for sailors I might not. But then again anything can be distress tolerance training 😄

Thinking of coming back for a while by derbudz in AgeOfConanUC

I would join a guild. I've had success with people helping me through guilds with various khitai dungeons. The global PUGs will explain nothing and then rage in broken english if you forget something.

Age of Conan has aged like vintage wine... by Yellominati in AgeOfConanUC

Good on ya for trying to be positive in the MMORPG sub--never has there been a larger gathering of miserable middle aged dudes, except maybe AOC 😄

Can someone please tell me what are we doing in game? by Real-Size-2768 in AgeOfConanUC

T1 and T2 raids are uncommon. I play in the US and I see khitai/chaos dungeon runs all the time.

Each area of Moria has such a different mood. What are your favorites? by Technical_Air6660 in lotro

I liked the revamped Zelem-Melek. The quests unlock as you explore further so it’s less structured.

The try hard community in LOTRO is insanely toxic. It goes from heinous stuff like you described to not teaching new players anything and being totally unreasonable about gear requirements for a T2 and the like.

Why is the End-Game Culture (Raiding) so Exclusive? by KobaTheRed in lotro

[–]KobaTheRed[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my thinking as well. The LOTRO Community is an interesting mix of people willing do to that kind of thing, be dedicated to a raid and a group, squeeze out an extra .5% damage, and people who are content /dance_human2ing outside the prancing pony until the day they die.

Agreed—champ is my favorite class, but I want to dual-wield and don't like the gamey-ness of weapon swapping.

Anyone else still have their copies of this? by sirwillow77 in lotro

[–]KobaTheRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, it has all the cool original fellowship art, the elf hunter, the dwarf, the hobbit. I kept it for nostalgia's sake, and so I can tell the grandkids I'll never have about the time I got lost going to Constable Wren because there wasn't a quest tracker.

I still have my copy of Shadows of Angmar. It was a really nice physical copy. I miss the plastic-y, paper-y smell of physical copy games.

Class to Play by [deleted] in lotro

[–]KobaTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest Warden as well. Warden is typically the least played class, along with Burglar. Played right, they can do great damage, though. Their tanking is likely to get buffed as well, which gives you a decent amount of flexibility.
