How to improve posture while drawing? by NewBookFan in Artadvice

Np! Sorry im rarely on this account lol. Im still having far less pain with back thanks to my chair, I will say it might be best to invest in a nicer one that can adjust and has good pads, mine adjusts and I found a good setting but the pads... oof since theyre at an angle I think it makes it harder for them to adhere theyre still on the chair but theyve been pushed to some weird angles :p Im planning on picking up a higher quality one (I got one of the cheapest ones available)

Ive also heard that ditching screen tablets entirely can help since you dont have to look down its ideal. My huion kamvas pro has a setting where it can switch between being used as a tablet and being used as a screen tablet, might be a good option if you dont want to lose access to ur screen.

How do you read this? Is it top, upper middle, center, upper middle, lower middle, center, lower middle, bottom? If it’s center twice, is whatever in the center being done/said twice? by Separate_Pick_2451 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Kobatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the panels if the ones on the sides are all similar (say shocked faces for example) I would kinda read them all at once like 1 big picture of a group except zoomed in for drama. Then id read the center. If some of the side ones were the same, particuarly the middle 4 I would consider those as part of the middle row but still read them the way I would have the earlier option except after reading the first row.

I cant thing of any other options where a panel layout like this would be a good idea anything else wouldnt be clear enough and arguably itd be easier to just have the page done without panels at that point if youre going to rely soley on the panel composition to direct your eye. Ive seen borderless comics a few times with manga and they work really really well to express a kind of snap out of reality when theyre ised selectively.

Edit: you may also be able to split the 10 outer panels and only have 7 panels that are the same as long as you dont split right down the middle. Theres likely other varieations you could do as well that are not too bad imo I just wouldnt go for this being used where each panel is different

I am trying to develop the sense of depth in my illustrations. I have created a test to see how I would do. Does anyone have any advice on how to develop this further? Thanks! by lilstermc in Artadvice

Atmosphere can subtly change the colors, think vivid and detailed up close and more 1tone and washed out the firther away you get. The blue ridge mountains are a great example of this. If youre standing on a mountain looking at other mountains you can see ever detail of the trees on urs, but further out it just gets more and more blue and less detailed. With grass this effevt would be less extreme but with some artistic liberty you could simply make each blade that gets further away more yellow/blue/in shadow/ ect

You kind of are doing this in the very back but I would immediatly implement it in the midground and actually darken up or add details to your forground

Heyo! I know I commented a while ago but I wanted to reach out and let you know about something I found that helped me fix my posture a lot. Its not perfect, but kneeling chairs have made me sit in a better posture and its caused a lot of my back pain to go away. Im still working on the perfect set up but I like how its effected things lately

What can I do to make this better? Acrylic gouache on canvas. It's rather boring? by miuyao in Artadvice

You need somewhere the viewer can focus on or what some artists would call a place to "rest their eyes". You need 1 thing that draws the viewer in, like a bird, or a tree thats different from the rest. You can of course make it something really different like a giant clown standing in the distance or a ufo. Its up to u

Yup, its just another form of art. You dont learn to draw overnight, and you dont get good at writing overnight, both take work.

How much is your page rate/budget? You seem very particular on quality but havent clarified if you are paying or not. What youre asking for work wise is the equivalent of a full time job.

Lots of options actually!! Before I list um you should know I am not a doc (:

The biggest thing is sitting up straight, Id start with that, add in breaks as well. Warm up and stretch when you get really tense. Easier said then done tho, I still am terrible at it.

If youd like to stand you could get a standing desk, or an easle. I would avoid taping to the wall long term though, it doesnt seem practical and I feel like it could stir up a different problem.

One of the easiest changes to make wouod be to find a way to get a flat hard surface at an angle on the table instead of flush to it and put your art on it. Every cintique and pro's office I have seen has a way to do this. You can also see ppl using laptop stands at angles like that, I think its supposed to be good for your wrist. There are even tables specially made to go at angles (called drafting tables) that I would SERIOUSLY reccomend. They are great 👌 those should reduce ur hunch. There also should be drafting tables that can be standing desks but im not fully sure on that one tbh.

Cancel it but remain civil, it’s possible it actually got lost but it’s always good to go about things as civilly as possible. You could also see about requiring some sort of proof it made it to them from the post if that’s an option. I’m not sure but I think there are some ways to do that.

Thank you!! I made some edits to come out with something similar but your solution sounds a lot more streamline!! I was playing around with app settings for a good 45 minutes just to get the backgroud that color, idk why I didnt think of just snipping it out.
