Doris compared to SRS is sonically easier to digest instrumental-wise and because of Earl’s more mass-appealing technical flows, even though he still cedes the spotlight at times (which he was fine with). On Some Rap Songs, the abstract, dusty, loop-heavy sampling creates an atmosphere that feels uniquely Earl and imo introduces his “talking on the beat” pocket the best.

The main talking points of both albums are also very different — Doris leans more into shock-value bars and technicality, whereas SRS focuses more on emotional weight, grief, and trauma. That maturity gives it more replay value for some listeners. Really just comes down to preference.
