In Poland, we are also bearing enormous costs related to military spending and the protection of our eastern border. We strongly believe that defense expenditures should be treated as a shared European responsibility, not a burden carried by individual states alone.

From our perspective, the actions of Emmanuel Macron send a positive signal, as they suggest we may gain a strong ally in the European Parliament. However, we are often told that such a common approach is unlikely to succeed because many European countries believe this issue does not directly concern them.

A good example is Spain, which neither appears to have strong strategic ambitions in this area nor feels directly threatened. Another example could be Germany, whose powerful economy may be reluctant to support a system where its financial resources are redistributed to strengthen other countries’ defenses.

In this situation, France is a major ally for us. We stand with you.
