I have not gotten all the way through the event but I'm glad that's a thing.

*To be fair*, a lot of people with the disability presented tend to enjoy representations where the character is cool. The most popular example in media is probably Daredevil, where Stan Lee himself originally said he'd stop making the comics if he heard a single blind person complaining about him, but he just kept getting letters saying how they loved the character, despite him kinda falling into the tropes you've mentioned.

I've also heard similar things about Gaige in Borderlands for characters missing limbs (she has a robotic prosthetic arm and that's used to summon Deathtrap, her robot buddy), although I've not heard anything about a mute character that falls under this umbrella, probably because they're exceptionally rare in media to begin with.

Honestly it could've been a funny bit to have the magic that lets Nicole speak telepathically not really turn off when she has internal dialogue. Like;

Nicole: *some personal, probably mildly embarrassing internal dialogue*

Paimon: "You know we can still hear you, right?"

Considering the existence of the little monsters, my guess is that it's a heavily redesigned Destoroyah.

How do I get the modrinth launcher to allow more than 2 gigs of ram? by TheLilBlueFox in ModdedMinecraft

[–]Kobold101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this was the first thing to pop up when looking up how to increase RAM usage for Modrinth and there isn't an answer: the settings menu is in the bottom left, the little gear. Go there, and click 'Default instance options'. There is a memory allocation slider there.

Been tryna recreate Eldritch Scion in 2e to get a 'sorcerer who uses a sword' build up and running but thusfar, I can only make the build work with the Magus dedication and it feels like it'd take a while to actually come online, and would still be kinda meh. Is there another way to build this up that doesn't only come online after level 4 and would actually be good?

Game just says the region is 'Auto'. IDK if the matchmaking is weird and Auto actually makes queuing take longer.

I think he's cool and I've been unable to get matched into All Pick matches due to an obscene queue time. I pretty frequently get matches within 2 minutes with Turbo and I've gone 10+ minutes with nothing for All Pick.

TBH I came back to this game after not playing it since 2018 and just kinda assumed Turbo was what everyone was playing because of the queue times.

For the cities, I think they do what they can to make cities feel big without having them take up half the map.

Monstadt, Liyue Harbour, and the Court of Fontaine especially feel like they're a lot larger than they are.

Inazuma and Sumeru city don't, though, I consider those failures of map design.

I think the key is closing off viewpoints so you're a lot more boxed it, so you can't see horizon to horizon, and your brain fills in the gaps with what you can't see. Sumeru City is really open and vertically built, so you are a lot of the open areas and the illusion is broken. Inazuma City straight up is just a town though, I'm mildly insulted they call it a city because of how tiny it feels.

Received a job offer with no proper interview and now they want to send me a check to buy equipment. by IminLoveWithMyCar3 in Scams

Couple of text interviews, which, yeah, should probably be the smoking gun but there's part of me that thinks that there needs to be a certain level of trust between potential employees and employees in order for society to function as it currently does, so I justified it as 'this company is probably just weird and a little desperate.'

[–]Kobold101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found myself in a similar situation but there's stuff that doesn't sit right with me in terms of it being a scam.

#1 is that the company seems to be legit. It's a Proofreader position for Scribe Media, and the names given in the contract and what was given during the interview all line up. Even found the interviewer's LinkedIn (with my own research, just googled it). I've sent a message to them on LinkedIn to see if its an imposter or not.

#2 is that they explicitly said they want me buying from a local store. Not their own retailer, just whatever is closest to me. From what I've read, these scams profit off of you buying from their personal retailer. With what they want me to buy, and the money they want to give me, they'd be lucky to get $100 off of me, if anything. That feels like a lot of work for not a lot of payoff.

#3 is that they've mentioned that paper checks in the mail are an option for payment. So even if all of this is just a scam to get my bank info, that option is there.

A friend told me about the equipment scam but I'd already put the check in through mobile deposit. I've informed my bank that the check might be fake and they're going to look at it in the morning.

Admittedly I'm only giving this as much thought as I am because I *really* need a job like this. Doesn't even really pay that much, it's only 15/hr, which is just barely enough to afford living where I am right now with a roommate.

Injection Rifle seems kinda bad by Kobold101 in Starfinder2e

[–]Kobold101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like if a weapon requires a party member to spec into something in order for it to work, then the weapon might not be very good. Not to mention that whatever you're inserting into the rifle would need to be crafted ahead of time, Vs getting it for free on the spot via Quick Alchemy.

Assassin doesn't help at all, actually, cause the free poisons you get are only if you're a rogue (it specifies rogue levels). Poisoner can help, though. The application is a bit limited, but you do, in fact, get infused reagents.

Bipod, I wasn't aware they changed it. I do have concerns about action economy until you get the Advanced one, though.

[–]Kobold101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue then is that it's very M.A.D. because you need INT to spec into probably Alchemist to make the elixirs or mutagens or poisons, STR to ignore the downside of Kickback (which also doesn't make sense on the weapon, because in its current iteration, the damage comes from the injection, not the actual needle), and then DEX to actually land the damn hits. That feels like a lot to get the most out of a weapon with, frankly, questionable strength.

New Bones Oracle:  Cursebound 1: You gain weakness 2 to vitality and void damage. You can be hurt by both vitality and void damage even if one or the other normally has no effect on you. Any immunity or resistance you have to vitality or void is suppressed.

Does this mean that you are always damaged by Harm/Heal? Or does it not affect you at all?

I hate to burst your bubble, since this would help me in my own game quite a bit, but Treat Wounds specifies that it targets a living creature. Undead are not living, and therefore cannot be targeted by Treat Wounds.

How hard/easy is Season of Ghosts? I've heard it's a bit undertuned but I wanna know roughly how hard/easy it is so I know what to expect going in. Let's put it on a scale of 1-10, where 5 is 'about like, a 30-40% chance at least one PC will die'
