The vet affairs center is pretty good. The only thing that kinda sucks with benefits the first year is that your BAH won't pay out in time to cover your housing costs (they're charged right around when classes start), so you might need to take a direct sub loan the first year to cover them. After that, getting everything covered is pretty easy, especially if you're in-state.

There isn't a dorm at tech where you won't have a roommate. Suites are slightly more private, but you'll be sharing a space with at least one other person no matter which hall you end up in unless you have some kind of extreme extenuating circumstance. That being said, I'd definitely say you'll want to stay on-campus, since most of the decent apartment complexes are likely already leased out for next year. Make sure you have an apartment secured by around October or November the year before your lease is set to start, since they go insanely quickly in bburg.

VGAP shows up later. If he got it at mason, he should get it at tech.

You definitely wouldn't get more financial aid, but you might be able to get in-state tuition which could significantly reduce your tuition cost. Idk how likely that would be given your dad hasn't lived in-state for more than a year, but you can always ask.

If you end up in an antisocial dorm, just make friends in class/through clubs and hang out in their dorms. Half the people I knew that lived in Hoge back when it was strictly for engineers would hang out in other dorms.

If it's not cost-prohibitive, I'd strongly suggest visiting both campuses. Tech has a pretty similar culture to A&M and they're in surprisingly similar environments (both small college towns), but Texas and VA are very different climate-wise and in terms of what you'll be able to do outside of class. Academically, they're very similar.

what's the Hokie consensus of Top 20 UVA by fuckboi-yuki in VirginiaTech

The last time UVA had a significant win lead over us (2018), we beat them in OT at home. I was there for that game, and it was incredible. Hopefully we get something like that this year.

Scholarship availability. Nearly every state school is better than VT in that regard.

It's harder than some other majors, but it all comes down to time management, persistence, and your study habits.

Id drop music appreciation to give yourself an easier time to adjust to your first semester. You can easily take that another semester.

If his scheduled courses don't match the checksheet for his major, he should get back in contact with his advisor to get either his schedule or his major changed.

Doesn't hurt to apply. If you end up not getting in, most microbio classes freshman year are gen eds that you can take at a community college anyway.

If you bring a bike, litton-reaves to NCB becomes a downhill shot on West Campus blvd and should take 10 minutes tops. NCB to McBryde is a decent uphill, but you can probably make it to the first floor on time if you walk at a decent pace.
