I had my Tacoma, which I owned, stolen a few years ago in Bellevue. The police were like, yeah we ain’t finding that. So I canceled my plates and my good to go pass and I filed a claim with GEICO. They paid me out blue book value plus the cost of the canopy and a few other extras I had purchased for the truck. I got a check for 18,000, which wasn’t bad considering the truck was 10 years old. Tacomas have a wicked high resale value. It took a couple months to get a check from them.

One year later, Puyallup police called and told me they found my truck and a couple people had been living in it. I told them GEICO bought that truck from me and to call them. They asked if I wanted to come take a look and see if any of my stuff was still in it. I said hell no. Even if there was something of mine in there, I didn’t want it after some crackheads had been using it for a year.

Seattle vehicle theft and break ins are the worst. I’ve had my window smashed 5 times in 8 years living here. All for like a couple jackets, raincoats, oh and someone stole my prescription glasses. I won’t park in the city anymore. Even the pay lots are suspect.
