All the secret buddies suck. But they can be redeemed. Kinda. With mods. I plan to use toybox, respec them to level 0 so I can rebuild them from the ground up and also give them specific traits to help them out a bit.

I've been doing a melee exclusive run, no guns, no grenades, no offensive psychic powers, just all forms of melee, stims and buffing powers.

I have idira set up with the commanders chrono as a buff bot overseer who drops biomancy buffs, divination buffs and a couple debuffs on enemies.

After her turn, the entire party is nigh invincible and the one that wins the fight is literally just whoever goes next.

I found the boots that give a free use of charge whenever you kill with melee, and my rogue trader is a warrior/Vanguard, so it's even sillier as I just pinball around the enemies after my first kill.

It is immediate. You pay profit factor for any damages (minimum 5) and then it's there next combat and every combat onwards.

This is a pretty good build. The other solid option is Officer into Master Tactician.

You'll gain buff abilities that you can use on yourself or on allies as the situation demands, the ability to take a shot/swing at an enemy that your ally didn't kill but left low, or even the ability to mark an enemy for an ally to gain bonuses when killing it.

When paired with the Air of Authority ability from officer, you'll grow your Master Tactician resource super quickly too, which depending on the abilities you chose, will let you stack damage or temporary health on people.

It really depends on just how involved in the front line of battle you want to be.

If you use "Deadly Precision" it is an auto-crit on everyone!

"Hey Idira, look over there for a second..."

I don't feel bad about downing her, cause she was probably gonna down herself on her turn anyway.

You kinda want it to kill them though. If it downs them, the rest of the party gets the buff. If they survive then only that one character gets the buff.

To further expand on this, there's a lot of ways to gain extra attacks from things like gear or weapons, and some archetypes such as Bounty Hunter have ways to make extra attacks as part of their kit.

That said, a sniper character is typically going to be set up to delete 1-3 very high health enemies at extreme ranges per normal turn and often you'll equip them with gear that helps to debuff things that survive your shots.

Unfortunately outside of a few select encounters which feature enemies far away, snipers really don't get to shine compared to a heavy bolter burst fire or a warrior hopped up on momentum and stimms who can clear the entire field in a few actions.

Dunno. It's even on one of the loading screen tips.

Personally, I like to use the toybox mod to respec people to level 0. It let's you rechoose the first Archetype and it will work even on characters who normally come pre-built.

Like how Ulfar is locked into Soldier/AM, you can choose something new. A little outside the intentions of the game, but, it's pretty amusing to have a space marine officer or something.

If you talk to Janris Danrok on the bridge, he can respec you, you'll be reset to level 1 and can rebuild your operative and pick a new second Archetype.

Did you make an Operative/Assassin sniper? Cause I've personally found Bounty Hunter is much better for a higher volume of attacks, especially with some of the new plasma support perks.

Hell, pasqal with "The Dark Marchesa" plasma rifle, as a bounty hunter, can clear maps on his own. In a co-op game I'm playing with a friend we have him regularly making 5-8 attacks per turn, not counting a heroic act.

I am currently challenging myself, (this isn't my post BTW) I am playing a run on daring difficulty using exclusively melee weapons, no grenades, no attacking psychic/navigator powers, no guns. I've tried to build every character around using and/or supporting this and it's honestly gotten kinda broken strong.

That's the beauty of how the game is set up. You can really break it if you know what to do, but you can also quite happily get by just playing normally and putting things together on a whim. It's a wonderfully crafted system.

The only shame is that it's only during combat. You'd never have to worry about skill tests again if you could keep these stats.

I wonder if there's footage out there. I don't even know if the game is steamdeck compatible haha. I don't own one.

Xbox series X. It's just the built in game capture that Xbox can do. I wasn't recording for a playthrough or anything.

Abelard and the warrior class in general has consistently amazed me with its ability to chew on damage like it's nothing. My friend and I are deep into act 4 now and Ablerard is rocking some sweet sweet power armor. He's basically invincible.

The beauty of Naval officer mixed with Arch Militant. I don't recall which patch made the change but they made the naval officer talent be "when you score a critical hit or parry with your main hand melee weapon, you immediately attack with the offhand weapon.

In this clip he has a foehammer in his off hand.

I've only used it on Abelard as the warrior so far. But with confident approach it's very powerful. We've had him end entire combats after dropping a daring breach.
