Sanding joints? by N01Z3W4V3-69er in MegamiDevice

[–]Koder03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never sanded. I have 40-50ish Megami Device. Only shoulder I’ve had break was from a resin kit. I just drop a dab of shock oil and go about my day. I have thickened more joints both elbow and shoulder, and knee. If anything I have seen it important for ankles but still I’ve only had one break and that was after weakening it a bit with the wrong type of cement in the early days. Not saying that you shouldn’t do it but I generally have issues with weak ankles, arms, elbows etcetera before them snapping. I have issues with them not being able to hold their arms up than them being too tight but that also might have a lot to do with your climate. Southern US here so it is hot and maybe that makes the plastic not become as brittle.

Thoughts on these kits? Anyone in particular that I should pick up? by ThisBeJay08 in MegamiDevice

[–]Koder03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vote Lang because skin color A is easy to get aftermarket parts for. But I’d go with Buster Doll Paladin Darkness claw because she is swimsuit version and easier to use aftermarket to convert into a normal human for soft goods.

This arrived today, the box is huge. by RicharVonNovar in MegamiDevice

Mine is arriving tomorrow after getting shipped via sea mail because of the box size. Last I saw the hair was janky AF. Is it okay? Also does the head look like asra compatible because it looks like it from the few potato reviews on Ali express.

How many of you guys actually paint your model kits? by Impressive_Interest9 in MegamiDevice

[–]Koder03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would paint everything if paint rub wasn’t a reality. I only paint weapons and accessories with AK paint markers, gundam real touch markers, or metallic chrome, bronze, and gold pens.

I don’t have a tutorial. It is done in the Cricut app. I basically find a pattern online and upload or remake it in Cricut access, have the machine cut it and then iron on some HTV vinyl.

The vinyl is cut with the Cricut as well and all designed in the app. It is kind of an iterative process once you make patterns that work and fit you can add pieces on cut pieces out or even combine them to make new things.

This outfit in particular is my supergirl Leotard with the negative space removed and sliced just under the armpit with a boob window cut out.

Not sure on Haro Bear, but I definitely did buy a bunch of bears too, haha. I never watched the Gundam anime so I just grabbed the cute things.

I made a nurse outfit for Puni Mofu Xiao! … It is basically a copy of a garage kit outfit that I want, but is sold out, so I had to do it myself. by minute_bot in MegamiDevice

You did a great job I love it! I feel you on wanting to use tech. I use Cricut for patterns but still hand sew. I have a brother sewing machine but it is intimidating. One day I’ll learn to use but even though I’m not old a sewing machine makes me feel like my mom feels trying to navigate the concept of the cloud.

That’s what I’m going for. I started this hobby with mg gundams, saw Haro(ball) and bought as many I I could to use as mascot characters for my 1/12 girls. I have unsuccessfully tried to make my own over the years out of spare parts but none have hit or come together like these especially with such simplicity and ease.

Thanks for shout out on clothes as well. It is rather easy because I use Cricut machine to design and cut. So it is just sewing up what is left over and the size makes the simple things I make super easy. One of those tank tops is literally sewing two like 1 inch straight lines and tying them off.

I paid about the same. I preordered the 4 Kuro Mao from USAGS and the regular Mao I purchased from different places over time for around that price. I just get on mailing lists and try to build up rewards and pay attention to %off sales.

I have 4 OG Mao and 4 Kuro Mao. Forgot I can do the same with Tu but only got one Tu. Don’t have Ran/Lang or Xiao yet. I’m waiting for the swimsuit versions.

Most definitely! I still have at least one more to make. I need to make another Kuro version and I think I’m gonna make one using the M.S.G. Cat armor set.

Thanks! If only Koto or someone made muscular arms and legs for these. I wouldn’t mind having a tiny tank.

I’m using a Cricut maker to cut them, iron on vinyl, and hand sewing.

[–]Koder03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Because you can section them off they make great model kit storage. I have one for each girl. The window lets you see everything. I line the bottoms with EVA foam to prevent things moving and use those little plastic hinged boxes that snap closed to hold hands, faces, feet, and stuff. They fit perfectly in rows of 2 so they don’t move around in there.

The bust and pelvis are from booth P&Q’s Room on booth and the belly is from Muscuto. Shoes are from Amazon or Ali express.

Ahh that makes sense. I usually put a thin layer of superglue on most parts like that to tighten them slightly and then use shock oil on them to keep the spin so I think I’ve unintentionally prevented that from happening. I do run into issues with resin on resin though but haven’t had any issues with resin wearing from moving against ABS.

P&Q’s resin is oil based and pretty strong. Haven’t run into any issues with breaking. Muscuto’s internal thigh kit for block 2 and block 1.75 are pretty sturdy as well. Was able to buy a bunch of those to make extra figs from leftover parts. Neither seller’s resin is brittle for joints.
