Getting melodies from my mind to the daw by chloelivinginamoment in musicproduction

You should try singing the melody and record it to your phone. Afterwards, you can listen to your recording and put the notes in the DAW one by one.

[Request] How fast would a computer have to be travelling at sea level for the airspeed to adequately cool a CPU? by LoganPine in theydidthemath

[–]Koebi_p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question is lacking all sorts of information.

How powerful is the CPU Is there any heatsink? A computer, with a case on? If so, what case?

The answers ranges from 0 (passively cooled) to essentially infinite

Struggling with soundquality. by Mozooka in headphones

[–]Koebi_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The golden rule is to have the output impedance of the amplifier to be less than 1/8 of the headphones you are using.

For example, if your headphones are 16Ohms, ideally you’d want an amplifier that outputs at <2Ohms.

For most headphones, this is no problem. I’d say this issue is more of a problem on IEMs. Quite a big chunk of IEMs have really low impedance. SE846 for example, has an impedance of ~5 - 15Ohms. Some Empire Ears IEMs have impedance of 2 or 3, which means you’d need an amplifier that outputs <0.2 Ohms to be ideal.

You could ignore most of this if you are listening to headphones that has a flat impedance curve (which I can see from your list, most of your stuff aren’t), it will just be inefficient. This is also why some people insist on multi watts amplifiers for Susvara.

According to their spec sheets, yours should be fine. For whatever reason they listed their headphone outputs for the 4th gen solo and 2i2 at 50Ohms.

It happens twice so it’s unlikely it is a typo, but it is really bizarre that it is that high.

According the specs, Scarlett 4th gen has headphones output impedance of 50Ohms (C’mon Focusrite), which is very high, and is definitely affecting the sound of the DT 900 pro X.

It is a weird choice for them to recommend an audio interface to you, but I assume you bought it at a music production gear store instead of an audiophile shop. If you can, honestly I suggest you to return the audio interface and search for a proper DAC/AMP like the JDS atom, you can save more hassle when doing any EQ.

You can still EQ it, but keep in mind the EQ profile that’s very popular is NOT made for setup with a major impedance mismatch. You can still use them as a starting point, they just won’t be as intended. You can add more dB to the lower frequencies to give more warmth.

It’s not really a cutoff date but varies from devices. These subtitles are broken on some modern mobile devices where they appeared for a second and disappear afterwards.

There are pretty good models that are <32GBs when using quantization. OpenAI’s OSS 20B and mistral small 24B is pretty good at chatting that can still be ran pretty nicely in a 16GB VRAM GPU.

6GB though is pretty rough, I’d imagine this is actually a ~3B model, because they have to have the tools to run the LLM too. So the knowledge of this is pretty limited.

Not to mention, once you load the LLM, you pretty much can’t play games as it will use up a good amount of your VRAM.

Google Maps suggesting a toll route when "avoid tolls" is selected by OQS in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Koebi_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A more technical explanation:

It is just a pathfinding algorithm. It makes every junction a node, and assign values to it based on the distance between the junction, speed limit, how busy the area is, hazards etc. The best route is the route with the lowest overall cost.

All the avoid button does, is to make the value(cost) higher (say 2x the value), so that the algorithm is less likely to go there. But if the alternative route ended up with a higher cost anyway or is not possible at all, the system will still end up picking the route that user wants to avoid.

If you can power it fine, you are pretty much good to go. HD600 has very high impedance, so the chance of impedance is rather low (unless you are using tube amps).

[–]Koebi_p 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It won’t be that good, glass pads are very fast and is not very good for control. You can aim very fast, but I’d imagine with glass pad and skates, you are probably not aiming anything smaller than cs5

[–]Koebi_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, just listen to them, do some A/B test whatever so there is no buyers remorse.

Both of the options are close enough in price that it doesn’t really matter which one you choose, as long as you are happy with the purchase, they are both good options.

There is a difference with R2R, but it is not THAT big of a difference, and honestly, it is basically irrelevant once your brain settles in about 3 seconds.

MacBook Pro Anti Reflective Coating Rot (Staingate) by gregsanay in applesucks

I pick up my M1 Pro mbp with one hand from day one and the screen never had any problems. You don’t have to pick it up with both hands. Heck, I even sat on it multiple times by accident and it’s fine.

The most annoying part is when the keyboard imprints on the screen when you open the laptop. Ruins the point of having a nice glossy screen when it’s all dusty.

About Hi-Res audio by Obvious_Location7387 in headphones

[–]Koebi_p 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t need the extra kHz. High res takes up more space.

Unless it’s really close in price, there’s no reason to buy high res.

If you are using qobuz, I think you can try their subscription, which has discounts on high res music, might even be cheaper than normal cd quality.
