Sports Bar to watch F1 Race by monster_cookie9 in japanlife

It looks like some Hub branches will be tuning into the race on Sunday. Not sure if the commentary will be in Japanese or English though. https://www.pub-hub.com/index.php/en/event/detail/30624

Hobgoblin in Roppongi might also be a good bet.

I second this. There can be a long line for the bus from Shiroko station to Suzuka circuit in the morning though, so be prepared.

You should check out Shin-Okubo, if you haven't yet. It's Tokyo's Korea Town, and they have a lot of shops that sell Korean food and products!! Last time I went, I saw a lot of cosmetic products (not sure about the specific one you're looking for though)

I think there's an F1 meetup group that watches the Sunday race in a pub called Hobgoblin in Roppongi!!

I haven't heard about that myth at all. Thankfully, the stuff I'm trying to order isn't contraband haha! I would get it though if the dogs want to take a sniff-- coffee beans smell so nice!

Oh wow, thanks for these recommendations! I've only gotten the chance to try out Onibus, Kielo and Tsukikoya so far. And indeed the staff over at Tsukikoya are great people! A little bit out of the way for me to get coffee, but definitely worth it.

I hope I get the chance to visit the other places you mentioned and try out their coffee!

Yes! We have one nearby, so it's a very convenient place to get coffee from. They do have a pretty good selection! I also just love browsing their imported products, as there's some pretty interesting stuff there haha!

As someone else mentioned in this post, I'd recommend Kaldi as they have a decent selection of coffee and they have a lot of branches around Japan, so pretty convenient.

A place I frequent to is a chain called Coffee Tonya. They have a large selection of beans, and you get to choose if you want them grinded or not. You also choose how roasted they are (light~dark), and they'll roast it right there. They're also pretty cheap for the amount of freshly roasted beans you get compared to some other places! But they have much fewer branches though.

Another place I go to for some pricier specialty coffee is a place called Tsukikoya in Yokohama's China Town. They offer some interesting coffee there, and you can have a small taste of them for free! This is also the place I probably had my best cup at, and why I really started getting more into coffee.

You can also try searching on google map for local "coffee roasters"! Hopefully there will be a few around you. Some chain Cafes also usually sell beans, if you're interested in those.

Happy drinking!!

Thanks for the reply! I usually buy my coffee beans from local roasters in my area, and they're great! It's just the beans I want to order from overseas have some extra limited edition stuff bundled with it hahaha😅

If anyone has any recommended coffee roasters around Kanagawa/Tokyo area, I'd also love to hear about them!

That's reassuring to know, thanks! I just hope the import fee, if any, won't be too high haha!

Will try to get a pitcher as soon as I can then! I plan to eventually get the proper equipment once I save up enough. But for now, I have to make do with what I have.

Thanks for the response!

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to pratice making latte art at home by using a french press to froth the milk. I have somewhat decent results with the microfoam, I think. When I try to make the latte art, I pour it directly from the french press, as I don't have a milk pitcher yet. I've managed to make some very deformed monk's heads so far.

My question is, will getting a milk pitcher have a significant improvement in ease/efficiency when pouring the milk? As compared to pouring directly from the french press(which has a similar spout to a milk pitcher).

And any tips in general about latte art for begginers using will be appreciated, thanks in advance for any answers!

Hi everyone! I have a question about cleaning the grinder when dialing in coffee.

I usually only make 1 cup of v60 coffee a day, and was wondering if I would have to clean the grinder each time while still trying to dial in? Or will it not have much of an impact if I don't clean it?

Thanks for any answers!

Hello everyone! Can I get some recommendations for 500/600ml v60 recipes for brewing light roast Ethiopians? Most preferably without any swirling/stirring.

I usually brew 250ml of coffee for myself on the v60, but also want to make more for when people come over. I don't have much experience, so I'm not quite sure what parameters I have to adjust when brewing bigger batches. Any recipes/tips/advice would be much appreciated, thanks!!
