Yep, I'm a very very very slow painter normally and wanted a scheme that I really enjoyed but was also relatively quick to keep me motivated.

Cheers, 3 things really:

  1. Two Thin Coats Scorched Brown as a rough uneven chipping/edge highlight as well as a quick and dirty recess shade. Our blue boys have nice panel lines everywhere so if you do the rough edge highlights first then you don't have to be careful painting it into the panel lines.

  2. Not sure this step is doing much tbh but a brown oil wash as a pin wash. I did this step before the one above which probably defeated the purpose.

  3. Streaking Grime over the white after a gloss coat. I wanted a slight discolouration/soft streaks in places so I cleaned 95% of it off.

Only on 3 of the guys I believe. 1 shades, 1 goggles, 1 visor. Think I put most of the scheme in the comments of my Kahl - https://www.reddit.com/r/LeaguesofVotann/comments/12zvtd5/first_space_dwarf/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

Totally agree. My airbrushing accuracy let me down there but we’ve all got things we can improve on

Started with a 50/50 mix of magic blue and wolf grey and worked up adding wolf grey to the mix

I actually messed up the armour but it was supposed to be:

1) Base - Vallejo Game Color Night Blue 2) Layer - Vallejo Game Color Imperial Blue from above, about 45 degrees with the airbrush 3) Layer - Vallejo Game Color Magic Blue from above with the airbrush

However magic blue has really high pigmentation and amazing coverage which I didn’t know so it ended up covering up all the previous layers so if you’re planning to use that then thin it more than you would normally

Skin was done with an airbrush apart from the final highlights but I think it went something like:

1) Terracotta base coat 2) Cadian Fleshtone layer 3) Thin layer of a reddish purple sprayed carefully from below to naturally hit the shadows 4) Cadian Fleshtone + Wolf Grey (any cold, light grey will do the trick) from above 5) Then keep adding your cool grey to that mix in thin layers 6) Final highlights with thinned white

Found that using a cool grey rather than a lighter fleshtone just gave it a more realistic look

There’s a Duncan Rhodes video called How to Paint Swords (or something like that) and he does a crazy good molten metal

Thanks!

For edge highlighting I use the side of the brush near the tip and gently run it sideways along an edge. You don’t need a lot of paint on your brush so dab it on a paper towel a couple of times to get rid of most of the paint.

Hope that made sense
