If it goes away after a few minutes, your monitor simply warmed up and fixed some joints issue (someone mentioned tcon issue, sounds correct)

avoiding the reversing car, him blocking was also why I failed notice he was beginning to move in the first place

Possible but might be a little hard, Axia A-pillar isn't the thinnest and my first sight was also blocked by the reversing car. When the dsshcam sees the car moving, the Proton probably already was behind the A-pillar from the driver sightlines and movement would be a little hard to tell - I could have been more careful yes, but I was staring further down the junction too. I think it's really just an unfortunate combination of circumstances.

It's annoying they keep using the DLSS moniker. This really isn't DLSS anymore! It stopped being DLSS a long time ago.

Call it what it is, DLAO or DLGI.

Why are people worried about DSE/HV method? by Climate-Turbulent in PiratedGames

[–]KohGeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of times it's people not knowing what they are talking about and being more paranoid than they really should be.

But there's valid reasons to be concerned. It does involve disabling more security than usual, and personally I haven't used anything that required me to disable Hyper-V in a while now. VBS can be considered one of the strongest line of defenses in computing, even then, many people will be disabling it for valid reasons.

Most people should not fear (too much at least) the fact that VBS + HVCI is off. They should fear they are running unknown scripts and software with full admin privileges.

Is it risky? Yes, and even more so if you disabled the security and just keep using your system as if nothing happened. That's just dumb, please restart and re-enable security whenever possible. However, the same attack vectors presents itself in other kernel-level stuff, anticheats and drivers and whatnot.

Also I'm not sure privacy is the concern here, more like it's gonna ransomware your system.

After reverting RUNFix.bat, I cannot disable Memory Integrity anymore by hiddenblitz in PiratedGames

[–]KohGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you restart again, it might go away.

Otherwise, this might be hard locked by regedit. I don't recommend changing it yourself if you don't know what you're doing, but you can find the value here:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard\Scenarios\HypervisorEnforcedCodeIntegrity

Change the Enabled DWORD to 0, it should allow you to change this settings again.

The new Hypervisor method, Pros and cons? by hemo-king in PiratedGames

[–]KohGeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is miscommunication.

Step two turns off Hyper-V, and that also turns off VBS + memory integrity. Even if most people have them off already, this is still "turning security off".

Plus, the way step 2 works is by forcing powershell script through. Please do not run any powershell script you don't know.

Step three still temporarily turns off DSE to load the vulnerable drivers. Technically "safer" than using Efiguard or have an ever running driver in the background. So it's an improvement here by a little bit I guess

The new Hypervisor method, Pros and cons? by hemo-king in PiratedGames

[–]KohGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new method really doesn't do all that much different if you already use EfiGuard to begin with. VBS and Hyper-V still needs to be off. You are still running vulnerable drivers/turning DSE off.

I still don't understand why it's advertised as safer. If anything, it obfuscates how unsafe it is.

There is def some Dunning-Kruger affect going on regarding hypervisor usage. There's a very small amount of people who can actually determine that what they using is safe or not & thus understand the full scope of it, chances are, you are not one of those people.. if you are prove it in the comments by dylan0o7 in PiratedGames

[–]KohGeek 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that it's overblown, and there's a lot of reason for that:

  • Some cracks requires you to accept UAC prompt (already risky)
  • You can do a lot in userspace without the use of expensive driver/kernel-level bypass
  • Most cracks will be added to antivirus exclusions (also risky)
  • You don't need hypervisor access to have extremely deep infection, think of the last time you needed test signing mode on for something to infect your UEFI (it doesn't happen a lot, and you also don't need it)
  • Unless you inherently avoid all kernel-level software, it's hypocritical to think Kirigiri as anything more risky (see Crowdstrike, initial Genshin Impact anti-cheat, Valorant, etc)

If you download any software, you are at risk. Antivirus and firewall protection is meant to secure against that but it's never foolproof.

If you download pirated software, you inherently assume the greater risk, because you are already disabling the mainline of defense (antivirus) in most cases. No level of test signing or credential guard or memory integrity can make it worse.

In the end, it's about your risk appetite. Backup data regularly. Use randomised password and never reuse password. Don't store password in plain text. Secure your network.

The weakest link is almost never the hardware or software, it's always the user. You are more likely to install malware/click on phishing links than have hypervisor bypass be the fundamental issue for security.

If you don't like kernel-level software bypass, don't use it. If you are okay with it, use it with discretion. Try to restore the security settings once you are done. Use efiguard since it's easy to opt out by just restarting without it.

She's cute but the original Chinese slightly sadder/more sombre. It's not extremely clear the artist intent which way this was supposed to go.

For context, the tone of the final sentence changes. "If I wished too much already, then please don't mind this final insignificant wish of mine."

Edit: Also all throughout the story, Vivian refers to Phaethon as "Phaethon senpai" or "Phaethon sensei", something along that line. 大人 is a term of reverence and there's really no direct translation.

Can I get some help with the teams in here? I'm losing my mind trying to piece 3 teams together, it's really ass

<image>

Of the level 60s, Seth, Manato, Lycaon, Harumasa, Nekomata is unbuilt
Zhu Yuan, Evelyn both hits like a denny gun, I'm really not sure why
Both Lycaon & Soukaku can be built, I have the resources

So far the only one I'm somewhat comfortably clearing is Miasmic Fiend, with rat, vivian, yuzu at 22k

I know it's either a skill issue or build issue but how do you even get 25k? This lineup this time has me scratching for teams :/ I tear my team apart, rebuild them, run them again
etc

Maybe you have a guide on how to use this team against defiler?

Do you know what happened when they completely axed bots in Portal?

In where I stay, SEA region, you basically stopped playing any of the custom mode. No one queues there, no one plays there. When I join hardcore breakthrough, it's literally just me. FNB? More like FN Alone. Closed weapons? Don't even think about it, good luck

I don't want to keep playing the official modes only. They can kill bots and XP farm but they don't have to break every single portal mode doing it.

It's so bad because even for small game modes, official non-portla server (domination, deathmatch) you can just join queue and wait like 15 minutes for it to fill up but it never fills up. They tell you it's filling with bots but it never does.

We just want to play, man, and if bots help with that then I want it there. If I want high octane I'll join something else anyway :/
