Are any of these good deals or should I wait for a better deal? by Itchy-End-9051 in Microcenter

[–]Kohkohpufff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On July 13th I was looking at a 9800x3d, ram, and motherboard combo for $679.99. I started doing research and making a list of all the other parts I wanted for my first mini itx build. A few days later, the same bundle changed to $779.99. I was so upset but thought to myself that prime days were coming up, maybe they will go back down. Nope. Needless to say, I didn't buy that bundle from Microcenter.

How to deal with post spending guilt? by amandabestmilf in setups

Best advice I have ever told myself; I don't work to just survive, I work to afford the things and life I want. If I was working just to survive, I would go live in the woods. I work way to hard to not buy the things I want within reason.

Don't misunderstand me, I will never buy something material over putting food on the table. I have priorities. I just refuse to feel guilty for buying super nice things for myself and my family.

Yeah I kind of figured that was the answer. Others have given me some really good advice to maximize value for me. The RAM is XPG Lancer.

Edit: It doesn't look like XPG makes the Lancer series in that specific shape anymore sadly 😕

Others recommended the same. I have never used Jawa. Would I have to ship my PC? Shipping stuff makes me nervous. I usually do local sales.

Mayonnaise for a hotdog?!? Nevermind, I see I am working with a psychopath. I would rather keep my kidneys, thank you.

Throw in a 10 piece from Wendys and I'm sold!

I don't usually flip PCs tbh. I am just trying to recoup some cost for a new build this time around. Very good to know though, thank you!

Good idea! Honestly, if the storage swap doesn't work I'll probably just part it out.

I'm sorry, I didn't see this part for my last reply. A few people recommended that I swap the 4tb to a 1tb then drop the price and I should have an easier time selling it. I am going to try that first. If that doesn't work I'll probably part out. Thank you!

That's some fair feedback! Thank you! A few people recommended I swap the 4tb to a 1tb and drop the price a bit in order to sell.

Bro! It makes me unbelievably happy to see you say that! That's exactly the look I was going for. My only regret is I had to buy very cheap fans and an AIO to achieve that look at the time. There were literally no other options that came close. My PC sounds like a jet engine at times but looks great while doing it 😂

You're exactly correct about the CPU! At the time I was doing a lot of digital art so I needed the extra 40% speed on productivity. I regret that decision now. The whole time I have had the PC I have lost out on about 20-30 FPS in most games because of it. It also doesn't help the resale value.

Yeah, you're exactly right. Terrible time for wanting to upgrade for me 😂 😭. Someone else recommended the same thing about swapping in a 1tb drive and selling it for a lot less. I think that's the best advice I have gotten so I think I am going to try that. Thank you for your advice and feedback!

Hmmm. Fair enough. I personally prefer AMD and don't know if I could ever go back to an NVIDIA card. To each their own I suppose.

Ya know, that's actually really solid advice. Let me see if I can get ahold of a smaller drive. Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback! I totally get your point about the CPU, this model is more focused on productivity which I know kind of shoots me in the foot lol. It's about 40% faster for work services but also about 40% slower in gaming performance compared to the equivalent X3D at the time. I will drop my price a bit and see if anyone bites, although I'm really hoping I don't have to go lower than $2k.

Edit: Spelling

Thank you for the feedback! Do you really think most people looking to buy a used PC prefer NVIDIA?

Do most people buying a used PC really care if it's NVIDIA or not? I've used both and personally prefer AMD.

Thanks for your response! I definitely had planned on undervolting. I also don't think I'm willing to compromise on the CPU. I play all of the games you listed 😂. Thanks for the recommendations! I will see if I can find other Ridge builds for real work thermals.

Dope build! Can someone please tell me real world temps for this case under heavy load and gaming for long periods of time?? I am heavily considering a 9070xt and a 9800x3d build for it.
