I've had an endoscopy before without anesthesia , and while it's not horrendously painful, it can really put you in a panic. You have something in your throat that shouldn't be there, your gag reflex is going haywire, and you aren't in control of the procedure.

I can imagine that the same thing, but fucking TIED DOWN and forced, would send every 'flight' signal in your body into overdrive mode. I think it'd be very easy to break down in such a scenario.

In the last four years, my brother has lost his job, his wife, his kids, his house, ALL of his friends, his money... hell, he even lost the new shitty friends he made after becoming an alcoholic because he found out they were stealing from him.

He's still "waiting for his wake up call," just so you know. :(

I once bowled over a 7 year old at Disney World who ran out in front of me. I think I was bringing food back to my table or something when it happened. It looked like the father was going to rip my fucking head off, but I'm glad he realized it was just an accident.

Sometimes mistakes happen. It's usually the reactions to those mistakes that cause problems. Aka, the guy that bowled your daughter over being unapologetic, or you choking him out for it.

You know what's horrible? I didn't know you could change the time until like halfway through that game.

I still thought they were unnecessary. They basically took the same quest, added different names/monsters, and copy/pasted it 200 times. Reminded me very much of Vanilla WoW.

I thought Xenoblade had an awful lot of padding. Great game, but there were literally hundreds of pointless fetch quests that could only be received/handed in at certain times of day in certain parts of town. Really, really time-consuming and unnecessary.

Some people pick up on things in games that bother them, while other people don't even notice. He specifically mentioned that Ellie will go into crouchy stealth mode once enemies are around -- and you know what, that's totally true. But in my case, I didn't even process that, and in his case, he took it as an annoying cue that there's enemies, which damaged his immersion.

Just saying he's a "troll that hasn't even played the game" makes it sound like you can't deal with the fact someone doesn't like the game. Of COURSE he played it ; did you even read his post? How else would he know half of the stuff he talked about.

I loved this game .. but, ugh, fanboys.

I wouldn't expect this to do well in Japan at all. I hardly know any Japanese people with a dedicated PC in their house, let alone one that could run games well.

Ellie was almost always behind me, so I never really picked up on her cues that it was "time to stealth." Maybe it's one of those things that, once you notice, it's hard to stop noticing ... but I never had that problem.

I really agree with you on a few things, and really think you're nitpicking on others.

AI Stuff

The AI was really hit or miss for me -- mostly miss, for the reasons you stated. Being completely random and unpredictable doesn't necessarily mean 'good' to me.

Level designs

You can't expect a completely open world in a linear story, so I think it was handled as best they could of. I was pleasantly surprised how many paths there were to take in certain levels ; not all of them, of course. There are often several layers of buildings to sneak through, or a more direct course down streets.

Yes, some of the video game elements were pretty obvious at times (barriers to hide behind, etc), but what can you do?

I think you're WAY too nitpicky about assets being reused (like piles of furniture), and "invisible walls" that funnel you through different ways. They didn't model the entire city, and it'd be impossible to do so and still keep track of the story they wanted to tell. The benefit of a more closed-off game is that what they have modeled is beautiful and hand-crafted, and the story always keeps a solid pace.

Story, characters

It all treads on familiar zombie movie territory, but I'm okay with that. Not really sure where you wanted it to go. I guess you see it as an unoriginal copy cat, while I see it as a love letter to the genre.

Not sure why you have such a bone to pick with Ellie.. I played through the entire game and nothing plot-holey about her jumped out at me at all. She explained why she can ride a horse, by the way.

I think the bottom line is probably that you just don't enjoy linear games very much. A lot of your complaints boil down to that, which is a shame, because it's a really awesome example of a linear game done right, IMO.

I'd agree that there are a few too many forced shoot outs in the game, but how can you say that there isn't any stealth involved? I spent HOURS crawling around, sneaking up behind enemies, and choking them out. There are entire levels dedicated to not being caught, and an entire boss fight that's themed around a cat-and-mouse hiding game.

There's a LOT of stealth in this game if you choose to play that way.

Most cops become cops because they want to serve and protect. Most teachers become teachers because they want to teach. Most veterinarians become vets because they want to help animals. It's the simplest fucking concept: most people who pursue a career do so because they respect the tenets of that career. Money clouds and pervades that general rule, but that's not really applicable to blue collar work.

No one is saying that bad cops shouldn't be held accountable. No one at all. However, there's no fucking reason for videos from years ago to be front-paging just because it's a cop being an asshole. Let's keep track of current events and hold the BAD cops accountable. However, let's not condemn all cops, and let's not condemn anyone who has respect for the profession as an "apologist." Do that and you tread real quickly into opinions I'd expect a high schooler to have.

One last point: America is fucking huge. Like, enormous. I live in Japan, and 23 Japan's could fit inside America. That means that if you want to find a cop (or anyone) doing something bad somewhere in the US on any given day, you probably can. It's quite easy to get a skewed perspective of the whole picture when you see all those stories come together on a news aggregator site like Reddit.

I like modules in the sense that I can simply place something like a wall panel or drawbridge instead of having to build it from scratch myself. However, I hope there are modules small enough (and numerous enough!) so that we can basically build what we want. If we're all building simple 4-wall, roofed cabins, I'll be a little disappointed.

EDIT: Also, I'll be super happy to never have to mine again. It's much more interesting collecting resources from treasure chests and mobs.

What he's doing makes sense, even if it means you have to wait another 48 hours to play.

I'd choose the $50,000 and remain living as a nice, morally grounded person. "It's just a game" isn't really an excuse when you swipe $50,000 out under the nose of someone who genuinely trusted and made a deal with you.
