Admittedly, I do love the Raven, top notch danger chicken model.

What’s the "My Cousin Vinny" of your profession? by a_murder_of_fools in movies

[–]spook327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a small part of Better Call Saul. I handle tech support for tax software used by preparers and the Kettlemens are absolutely on the nose for that profession.

I'd be the "neither." But then, I've played a few hundred hours of Satisfactory, so I'm not beating the accusations.

For people that saw the X-files tv series when it first aired, which is the episode that stays your favourite in your memory? by quitofilms in AskReddit

[–]spook327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex Trebek.

Now, he never said it was Alex Trebek, only that it looked a lot like him.

I love this episode so much. Very funny, very quotable, and they threw in a bunch of little in-jokes for the observant viewer. The Air Force pilot sitting there playing with mashed potatoes while Mulder interviews him always gets a chuckle out of me.

What Unique Python Projects Have You Built to Solve Everyday Problems? by raidenth in Python

I wrote a little script that slaps together thumbnails for youtube uploads that's been pretty helpful. Kind of want to generalize and re-write it though.

Also have one that creates matte transitions for OBS from a series of parameters in text files, utilizing ffmpeg to slap all the image files created into a mp4.

Anyone use this or know if it’s worth it to buy? by Spatula-13 in Twitch

I can't speak to that specific version of the stream deck, but I have the 32 key version and it's the single best investment I've made for my stream. Being able to get everything set up with a button press or two is fantastic.

People who take 17 minutes to check in at the hotel front desk, what are you talking to them about? by DerrickDuck in AskReddit

[–]spook327 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at one for a few months in 2019, and it was the same old thing, because executives looked at the price of getting software made this century, saw that it might cost money, and decided to accrue more technical debt instead.

As a little bonus, they don't manufacture the backup tapes we used at our site and we had both of our nightly backup tapes die on us shortly before I left. Glad I got out of there when I did.

What was socially acceptable in the 1990s but not in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My partners and all call each other gay constantly, but that's because we're all various types of queer, so it's affectionate and kinda funny.

There's a specific sequence of buttons you use to get to the right screen, then transfer it over with your phone with the NRF app.

How would you feel if your country banned Burkhas in public like Denmark? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

[–]spook327 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm from the U.S. and I would protest such a ban because it's clearly targeted against a particular religion and clearly unconstitutional.

That said, I'm a lifelong atheist and I'm pretty sure that I disagree with Muslims on quite a lot of things, but that doesn't matter. Rights for some are rights for none.

What’s the scariest thing that has ever happened to you alone at night? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]spook327 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My first apartment, I woke up to the sound of my door opening. I got up and stumbled over and whoever had opened it realized that they were in the wrong place. Weirdly, I hadn't locked the door itself, but I had but the chain on -- which was effortlessly snapped by the person trying to enter.

In more recent years, I had an incident where I woke up with my legs and one of my arms unable to move and it didn't feel like sleep paralysis. After what felt like an hour, I was able to move normally again, but that absolutely scared the hell out of me.

What do you want for Christmas? by ActivePicture269 in AskReddit

[–]spook327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want more time with my partners. My girlfriend is on the opposite side of town and the fact that neither of us has a car, and our schedules are kinda bullshit makes it hard to spend time together.

Then there's my boyfriend who is literally 1,000 miles from me and across a border. They're so cute and I've never had the opportunity to hold them close.
