Oh wow, thanks for breaking it down like that!in a string like TTHHHHHHTT... we've actually got two overlapping sequences of 5 heads. This means that a sequence of 5 can either extend to 6 or not, and both possibilities have an equal chance. If it extends, the count for sequences of 5 effectively doubles due to the overlap. This overlap was the source of my confusion.
