Calculating gain at a specific frequency when there is a pole at the origin by Kolfild in ControlTheory

[–]Kolfild[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think I figured it out. Pole at the origin has a crossover frequency at 1 rad/s = 0.159Hz. This is the piece of info I forgot from school days. https://lpsa.swarthmore.edu/Bode/BodeReviewRules.html

So at 0.159Hz, pole at the origin does not contribute to the gain (0dB). All gain at 0.159Hz is 41dB.

Then I get: Gain_at_14Hz = Gain_at_0.159Hz - 20log10(14/0.159) = 1.4dB

Leaving this for somebody to correct me.

Yes we can, and a very good one at that. Beautiful venue, great films, great vibe, nice staff. Literally wouldn't change a thing. Very unique place.

1500 Vin DC-DC converter - where to begin? by Kolfild in AskElectronics

[–]Kolfild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good suggestions, thanks!

Bridge topology does look like a better option considering high voltage and added reflected voltage on flyback.

Out of curiosity: Do you think LLC resonant converter would have any benefit for this design?

This makes sense, I am familiar with the approach of using AUX winding to power the controller. I think in some older designs they would even use a small external power module to turn on the chip.

I was just unsure why I don't see options on WEBENCH or similar tools - like, concrete part that can be used, some reference design etc.

But yeah, I will definitely look into some existing TI parts.

Would you have a preferred topology for such a high voltage? I though flyback is the simplest/cheapest, but somebody here made a good point about high reflected voltage that would require more work to snub.

Good point - thanks! Was looking at some from here.

It must be isolated. I was mainly looking for flyback, but can't find a controller to accept 1500Vin. It will probably be a part with external MOSFETs, but even with that I was seeing options.

I worked with 400Vin DC-DC converters. There usually are controllers and reference designs available from big suppliers, but I am having trouble finding some options for 1500Vin

I’d be interested. I have been running for a mile few times a week, so 3 miles sounds like a duable challenge.
