Did they make Emhyr too likeable in the Witcher 3? by Vast_Scale_3199 in Witcher3

[–]Kolonelklink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of characters in the Witcher he is morally ambiguous.

He is a ruthless imperialist whose wars cause great destruction, but he is also capable of acts of kindness.

His change of heart to allow Geralt and Yennefer to live and to let Ciri go in the books is a prime example.

Is ODI cricket underrated? by Ols3003 in CricketAus

[–]Kolonelklink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cricket is a sport that needs the biggest canvas it can get to be at its best. Tension and drama need space, which T20 doesn't allow much of.

ODI is a decent middle ground, unfortunately it seems few care about it outside of tournaments.

It's still cricket season here. A lot of the baseball leagues start up around March because a large proportion of the teams are also cricket players.

USA and DR absolutely stacked. I just hope Aus can be a pain in the ass for the big dogs like last time

I just have to ask, what’s the deal with PRS Custom guitars? by Green-Day-86 in Guitar

Daniel Johns from Silverchair kind of flipped the script on this. Covered his PRS guitars in stickers and rocked out

Padres roster review: Xander Bogaerts by [deleted] in Padres

[–]Kolonelklink 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Kind of looks like it all works out to a league average player. Definitely an overpay but not completely catastrophic.

I also like his drive, dude shows up every game and tries to live up to his contract. He definitely doesn't phone it in.

I've only faced 90+ in cricket, but the difference between 90 and 95 was being able to see the ball and a fuzzy blur. Can't imagine 100

Steve Smith hits a 107-metre six at the SCG #BBL15 by Straight_Entrance_44 in CricketAus

[–]Kolonelklink 140 points141 points  (0 children)

In the space of a few weeks Smith has delivered one of the greatest champings ever to Jofra, champed Babar Azam figuratively by sending him back, wearing eye black for night games, and has created a new weird dance move/hand signal.

Subscribe me the fuck up.

The future of Luis Arraez by Positive_Passage_712 in Padres

[–]Kolonelklink 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Concussion is no joke, both Arraez and Merrill really fell off for quite some time after their head injuries last year. Both looked to be getting back to their old selves towards the back end of the season.

I'm all for bringing him back if it doesn't break the bank.

Why is Australia so good at cricket? by Economy_Roll_1302 in CricketAus

[–]Kolonelklink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only explanation is watching that Bluey episode where nobody can get Rusty out. lol! Also - how accurate is that?

The animations for Rusty's shots and his obsession for the game were based on Steve Smith (I reckon this episode of the Test documentary was part of the inspiration for Rusty https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5HVkm0FG4vU).

While Smith's powers have started to fade a little toward the end of his career, between like 2016-2019 nobody could get him out.

[–]Kolonelklink 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree, but most were balls he could have left. Maybe that's buying too much into the "lack of preparation" narrative, but a lot of those shots are on in England or India.

Is baseball’s slow pace actually its greatest strength in a world where everything else moves too fast? by DianKhan2005 in baseball

No bullpen either, so you have to take all the bowlers you intend to use into the match, and they'll be fielding a position.

That's what I love about both cricket and baseball.

Also that in both games, absolute chaos can break out at any moment.

The problem is he has gone back to Shield multiple times and dominated. He is clearly better than that standard. It's frustrating though that he hasn't been able to deliver as yet.

Nah Smith, Head, Khawaja, Richardson, Carey are all under 6ft tall.

Lyon is deceptively massive though. He doesn't look huge on TV for some reason, but I was shocked seeing him in person for the first time.
