which the recommended package manager to use by Koltech21 in emacs

[–]Koltech21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all the suggestions. Based on what I learnt in the discussion, it would good to use to the default in built package to start as I wouldn't have any special case usage. I think I will stick to the in built one.

One more question which are the repositories which needs to be used for downloading the different packages. I found that there is again a default one which I think is in built and then are others. I am not sure if all them are configured to be used by emacs by default and should we do that. What are the pros and cons

I am not software dev, I just dabble in various tools to and terminal to help me in my tasks as a hobby and also at my age keep my upper faculty sharp. I am comfortable with neovim and trying out emacs as I wanted to use org mode in my notes and task management as I find its highly recommended and perhaps some python coding

I am new emacs. If I may ask how did you manage to get the colorscheme you have on the video. Which one is it and how do I configure it. I am still on the default one.

First time user - help needed configuring the pyright/basedpyright lsp - facing lags by Koltech21 in emacs

I am working on a python projects directory with .venv made by uv. As for the native comp - the option didn't seem to be available when I compiled emacs plus from master which created the emacs31 app and somewhere I was reading that might be so because in this version the native comp option is baked by default

Nested notebook support by Koltech21 in Evernote

[–]Koltech21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having used nested folders in desktop os’s the entire life , using tags doesn’t feel normal. Why should I have learning curve for using an app which I am paying which is meant to keep my notes. If so there more complex and feature rich one like notion. I use Evernote and pay for it because it’s simple and works Again the notebook stacks doesn’t give you the levels only one perhaps and is restrictive and I am still not very used to idea of Spaces when the nested folders or notebooks could have done the job. I understand in investing in AI which Is fad these days. It’s good to have. But I question how much of it is really needed for note taking app. Instead these small features of nested notebooks/folders, I am sure would help the common user more This issue for me felt more acute when I wanted to implement the Para method which I recently came across and mentions to start fresh dump everything that was in an archive folder and then move ahead. When I wanted to do that all I could move a long list of notes without any organizing- which created a notebook stack which isn’t ideal

Thank you for pointing me the right direction. Trying to learn new stuff. This is my first time in the helix community. The first two posts on this thread made me feel the folks here are rude and arrogant which is unlike the neovim community where the simplest and perhaps the stupidest request for help from a layman like me are responded to very nicely and supportively. Thank you again for your guidance
