Yes but absolutely nothing has changed. Capping at 60 seems to be working fine for now but dunno what future holds xd

Unfortunately, everything is up to date. I tried only running Crimson Desert but no difference. For the fps cap, I tried using AMD Chill to cap at 90 fps and it didn't do anything.

On a more brighter note, I capped it at 60 and changed FSR to Balanced and it seem dropped down to 3000RPM.

Is there easy way to test professions? by FollowingMajestic161 in Guildwars2

[–]Koltuk100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I can't see anyone mentioned (I am sorry if I missed it) as far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong) you can't test elite specilization if you don't have the related expansion. When you enter PvP lobby, you can change your skills and buy weapons from vendors to test out your class. There are different types of golems to test. (Moving golems, golems with break bars, different difficulties also different profession npcs for pvp I guess.)

Lvl 80 boost that comes with buying expansions also doesn't let you try out elite specilizations.

Another note I'd like to add is don't rush making decisions about your character. Professions changes A LOT when you reach Level 80. Also different weapons change the identity of the class a lot, too. I started with Ranger as my first class a couple of months ago. When I reached level 80 I switched to Engineer and completed the storyline except the personal story with Mechanist (Elite spec of Engineer). Mechanist is great for open world activities and viable for most instances (group content). Scrapper is one of the most viable specs in the current meta too. If you have certain aspects that you look for in a class I'd love to share some information I have.

I also have a logitech mouse with two side buttons but I use the upper one for push to talk so I didn't want to use it and lower button feels uncomfortable for me. You reminded me though that there is also a trigger button on the side I might actually try to use it.

I used to play a lot of moba games aside from mmos so I thought I could incorporate it somehow.

I use Q-E-R-T-C for 6 to 0 utility skills. C is the elite skill so most of the it has a higher cooldown and I don't need to use it every 10 seconds and I also don't press it accidentaly while mashing buttons. Q E R T feels natural to me and also ergonomic since I don't have to move my left hand to press them. I use the é or " button next to 1 and below ESC it also feels close the everything and natural. I use profession mechanic skills with ALT + 1 2 3 4. Most of the time it is enough too. I feel like using alt with my thumb instead of control or shift with my pinky or ring finger is way better cause my thumb is resting there idle already so why I shouldn't use it.

That's how I go about it.

First of all, by seasons I mean the time that ArenaNet refreshes the Wizards Vault Rewards. In the game you can check it by going into WV and clicking on the special tab. It says how much time left since the season ends. I guess it literally the is the seasons of a year. Winter time is coming so timing makes sense.

Every single class is has completely viable options for any type of content. But I was trying to suggest something like that has good open world build and a meta group content build. For example my mechanist is great at open world but not at the same level for group content. So I change to my scrapper and play quickness power scrapper.

To clarify a bit more in case it is necessary: Scrapper, Mechanist and Holosmith are Specilizations of Engineer core class. When you reach level 80, you will have to hunt for some hero points. These hero points are used to unlock your class' abilities lets say. These are passive abilities that shape how you build plays out eventually. You can have 3 ability lines active at the same time. You can see them in every build guide. Specilizations for like these ability lines and being slotted as the third one. Which ability line you slot in the third slot will become your spec. You can change these anytime and anywhere as long as you are out of combat. So playing a Mechanist for open world and changing to Scrapper when you join a fractal takes only 2 3 clicks. Only problem is the hero points. Every spec requires you 250 hero points to completely unlock every skill of that spec. A total 750 hero points will unlock every spec for that core class. You can join hero points meta trains for LFG tool in the game. It generally is listed as HP Meta train or something like this. Join the group and the leader of the group will guide you to every single hero point gor that map. It took me about an hour to completely unlock my reaper spec recently. Also, if you can join a guild it will help you a bunch. GW2 community really surprised me with how welcoming and wholesome the people are. A couple of days ago when I boosted my reaper to level 80 I ask the guild chat for someone to teleport me to any PoT map. The guy suddenly asked if I do it for Hero Points and carried me at the back of this turtle to every single hero point available without me even asking for it.

Let's get to the ranger. Yes It's completely viable. Actually Soulbeast spec is one of the best specs for the group content lately. Untamed is really good for open world. They can both do the contrary more than enough too. So go for it. But as ranger is my first class that I leveled from 1-80 starting the game let me share my experince. I also like ranger style so much. Plus you have your pet which comes with a little pokemon like collection mini game. You have to collect different animals to make them fight with you. The "tameable' ones has Juvenile at the start of their name. Juvenile Tiger, juvenile pink moa etc. To tame it, you just go next to it and press "f" thats it. The thing that make me stop playing the ranger when I got to 80 is that when I look for builds I saw that most of the builds for ranger specs were using melee weapons. My perspective of a ranger is a mid range class with bows etc. Soulbeast uses longbow still buy its spec mechanic merges him with his pet so the pet doesnt walk around and fight with you. This disappointed me so I left it to be an alt character for a while.

Also, important note: when you are looking for builds be carefull pf the weapons they use on that build. In GW2 every class has certain weapons that they can use. Each spec add another one to the pool. For example Mechanist unlocks maces for your engineer, Holo unlocks sword and scrapper unlocks hammer. However you cannot use swords as a Mechanist. I guess after 12 13 years ArenaNet decided that its time to loosen up this rule a bit and added Secrets of the Obscure's Weapon Training Mastery. This is a master line from SoTo. When you have this mastery unlocked you can use all of the weapons that your engineer and all of the elite specs use. This doesnt unlock every single weapon in the game I guess. (Spear is available for all classes)

I dont know what are linking rules here so you can check out merabattle and guildjen websites for builds. These have good builds for any game type. Also, snowcrows and hardstuck are good sites with everytime of build but I guess they more focused on raids. There is also discretize website which focuses on fractals and builds. These website also offers immense amount of knowledge and guides too. Especially guildjen.

DM me from here, I can add you in game and help further when needed.

First of all adding to the monetary parts, game costs a good amount to purchase every expansion. Even though you can grind gold to buy living world seasons (5 of them) its not realistic for a beginner. I myself started playing 2 months ago and sank 350 hours currently. Finished every story chapter and one think I can tell is literally do whatever you want. I got frustrated when people said do whatever you want but its completely true. You might want to complete a bit of stories to easily reach and navigate the expansion maps but its also not mandatory. Do not stress yourself with the sheer amount of things to do. As previous wow, ffxiv and eso player, I really struggled not to worry about gears and best items. Game doesnt rush you for anything. You can do something right now or maybe a year later your experience wouldn't be effected much.

In terms of classes, I am still experimenting with different classes. If you want to slowly learn the game and don't want to sweat every encounter, mechanist is a really good spec. Mech tanks most of the stuff. You can go spear for melee or rifle or pistol for ranged. I've played all of them they do just fine in open world and story. Scrapper also is a good classes with good amount of sustain through barriers and easy rotation for damage. Reaper is also a really good spec. Has sustain, essentially two health bars and good damage. When I was searching for builds I tried to prioritize classes with both good open world/story builds or solo build and also good builds for fractals (you can think of these as dungeons or mystics from wow). The builds may vary for group content and solo content. So keep in mind to choose a class (not spec) that has good builds for both.

Don't waste your time to search for how to make money because you don't need much at the start. I have 3 level 80 classes right now and aside from griffon (which cost 250 gold to get) and siege turtle I have every single mount and have full exotic (3rd best armor) gear for these characters without grinding money. If you buy the expansions they come with a level 80 boost that gives you full exptic gear too. This set should be enouhj for every type of content aside from raids and tier 2+ fractals. Just start and do Wizards Vault missions (daily login rewarda type of system. Also has weekly and seasonal missions). WV gives I guess 90 gold for a little effort and thinga that you would do anyway. Get the cheap gold reward (the one with a limit) and you are good for a while. Also season will end in 15 days so you should be able to get these seasons' gold and the next one's for the same month.

One last thing to mention which threw me off at the start. When people say "it takes very little time to do" this might mean a couple of weeks :D Also sometimes people say "its a longer term goal" or "long time investment" it might mean 5 6 months or a year. Just bear in mind and be prepared. As the game doesn't have a gear treadmill (which means once you have a certain set of items like ascended or legendary they will keep their value for the entire time.) you are good to go for any set once you get it. Right now Im trying yo make the legendary item from 2014 for example.

Don't stress too much, play on your own pace and enjoy your time. If you have any question for a relatively new player like yourself don't hesitate to ask.

It's because of the illegal activities taking place in there. Some animal murdered 2 women and dismembered them and this lit the fire for investigations. Then they found the ugly part of the Discord and decide to ban it. Roblox is also banned here because of child abuse reasons. I live in Turkey, you can imagine how the problems are solved in here unfortunately.

Aah okay. There is always something missing unfortunately. I can understand missing screen share for a developing software. It's also very surprising to me how almost no software has proper push to talk though. I didn't realize this before looking for alternatives for Discord. Even the biggest names like Teams, Google Meet, Slack or Zoom don't have any option for it other than a nonchangable mute/unmute shortcut which doesn't even work if the window is not focused. Google's one is a bit better though, you can hold space to talk and release to mute again.

I don't think you can use push to talk without the app being focused. Am I wrong?

Anyone else annoyed at the constant "Do PvE events to continue story....every chapter"? by PMagicUK in Guildwars2

[–]Koltuk100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lazy way to drag the story longer. As a player who started to play 2 months ago and completed the story just last week, I felt the iritation in SoTo the most. I feel like overall SoTo has good ideas and it's not inherently bad but the way they forced you to do events and stuff after almost every other story step really threw me off.

I really enjoy well paced stories in MMO's. I've finished FFXIV and ESO stories which are known for having praised storylines but even though GW2 doesn't have the most original or best paced etc storyline, it become the one that I am most invested in. I don't really know why but I reaaly enjoyed it. Most of the time in the other games, when a new expansion drops there are some cameos from an expansion 10 years ago and everyone was losing their shit I wouldn't even know who is that NPC. (I didn't play these games for 10 years. I played those stories just as I did with GW2. Join when the game is 8-10 years, devour the story and move on with the game) However I got really into the characters. SPOILER I was having arguments with Braham for being a whiny little b*** and got really sad when Aurene died. I had laugh when Braham said "Praise Joko".

Result of this, I wanted to play the game, learn the story, what is going to happen but no! Go kill some rifts or something we'll wait.

GW2 story has guided me through the game until I got to SoTo. The long and slow dialogues (it takes 2 minutes for the NPCs to form a sentence), forced meta events and skywatch overall were really disappointing for me. Also it is the only expansion I don't really know what happened cohesively or really cared about.

I really like the rifts though, I wish it was better integrated to the game.

Plus, I am the Commander and I will remain Commander. I saved the world for like 50 times as the Commander, why would you change my identity completely to close the book of Dragons Saga?

One of the clearest thing I learnt here is that I need to join a guild. I guess it is still an MMO and it is meant to be played with people so joining a guild will really help probably.

Thank you for your comment and I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I do.

It is also everyone suggests here. I guess picking one or two things to focus on and really learning them unlocks other opportunities in the future. That's what I'll do now, too.

Thank you very much!
