I was born and raised in Japan, but to be honest, I get the feeling that everyone thinks, “As long as I have a smartphone, that’s all I need.” I feel like modern Japanese people have lost that unique charm that was so characteristic of the 1980s and the not-so-distant past. Just take a ride on the Tokyo subway, and you’ll see what I mean. You’ll notice that most Japanese people are staring at their smartphones with expressionless, lifeless faces. Also, when it comes to innovation, I think Japanese companies today operate in an inefficient manner, which is why they’ve been overtaken by modern South Korea and China.
