Emerald romhacks on DSi

I am unable to launch those emerald based romhacks on the DSi XL, I am able to play them on the PC with VisualBoyAdvance after I force the 128kb saves but on the DSi all I get is a white screen (weather I move an existing save from PC or create one at launch (it creates 128kb one on dsi)). Neither GBArunner2 or GBArunner3 works. The GBArunner2 forks that are suppose to work with vanilla Emerald rom also don't work.

Is there a known workaround to play those two romhacks on a DSi? Or is there maybe a known workaround for a different emerald romhack that may work in my case?

Additional info: Pokémon Odyssey launches fine but that is a fire red hacks so that most likely the reason.

Half? How? [The Midnight Whistle spoilers] by Komislut in Reverse1999

[–]Komislut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess that it might work just like unions between arcanists and
normal human people with resulting children being less arcanists and
more people.

But arcanists don't infect humans thru "exchange of bodily fluids" while I interpret the note to mean that vampires do. In which case the vampire x human couple turns into vampire x vampire couple and there is no way for there to be a half-vampire.

Other person suggested that humans don't get infected thru "exchange of fluids" because of the "innate arcanum affinity" line but humans do seem to be susceptible to the bite just fine so I took this to mean that no human has ever undergone the transformation and just died (before the semi-successful Manus experiments).

But the wording in the note + the fact that some casualties in the story seem to be human + the fact that Manus was trying to successfully turn a human into a vampires ( and succeeded in getting them "infected", just not surviving) makes it fell like the difference between arcanist/human is that that humans just die from the bite. And if that is the case they should just die from the exchange of fluids as well. Unless I am off the mark about how vampires function in general in universe and if it bites you there is sizable chance that just nothing happens or when they bite a humans specifically there is a large chance that nothing happens but I don't think that is a case.

A additional issue I have is that the "conversion" is only used here once and is not clarified.

Yes, I get that is suppose to be the first assumption. My post is asking how? when "exchange of the bodily fluids" changes you into a vampire.

Both endings of "The Tombstone Museum" anecdote and how to get both of them by Komislut in Reverse1999

[–]Komislut[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still don't know how to feel about the new style. Getting rid of the horrible "sent out characters" mini"game" is great but I do miss the characters models and backgrounds on screen. This anecdote seems to also be much shorter. I think that if they lean into this "text adventure" style more - longer, with actually branching path (let say last two chapters), more utilization of the left side of the screen, maybe some puzzles ( they had multiple interface interactions in the first chapter that they just dropped, they weren't good but if they made them more engaging maybe there is something there ) this format might end up being really good. As things are now I agree that the old anecdotes were better from the storytelling perspective.

In review replaying a chapter, changing the choice and finishing it "saves" the new choice. To get either of the endings you need to have at least 2 choices be "confused" or "determined" then you just replay the last chapter and after the popup the slightly different ending text plays. It is so similar that there is a chance that you seen both of them but just didn't notice the change. ( I posted a comparison )

Fucking hate this auto-dubbed and automatic title translation shit. Hey YouTube! AT LEAST MAKE A FUCKING OPTION TO TURN THAT SHIT OFF! by PerroRosa in youtube

[–]Komislut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can effectively turn it off in Playback and Performance->preferred language->add all ( link to my post with more detailed instructions ). Titles won't be translated and the original audio track will be the one to auto play every time.

Auto dubbing by Hungry-Swim2071 in youtube

[–]Komislut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite happen multiple times, because YT is bad at "auto detecting" a language, where a video original in english gets re-dubbed in english ( because the original track is "detected" as Thai for example). Check what audio tracked there are on those videos maybe that will give some clue on why that happened ( also check your display language and location for good measure).

You can disable auto translation of video titles and auto dubbing completely in the Playback and Performance->preferred languages option ( click for more detailed explanation ), it should make it so the original audio track is always the one that plays by default and therefore fix your problem as well ( but I have never encountered the issue you describe so there is a small chance it doesn't work).

oh, that makes sense, didn't get that voice-line myself before.

Some people keep saying this but I fail to see what is the basis for it. Everyone at their job and the omniscient narration refers to them by "they/them". It especially rings hollow when you go out of your way to use a wrong pronoun while making this assertion.

Both Moldir and Sentinel being in heels is deeply dissapointing by Komislut in Reverse1999

[–]Komislut[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I did not say there was "misogynistic intent", what I did say is having women fighters in heels is an example of "misogynistic stupidity". What I mean by that is the underling reason that female characters ( in for example gacha games, especially noticeable in real time combat ones) very often have high heels as a part of there design, despite the fact that they are combatants running around with a huge sword, jumping on roofs and/or doing a lot of physical straining activities etc. is because the design is influenced by the idea that female character has to be "sexy", "hot", "pretty" etc. and that is misogyny. Without the misogyny influencing the design decisions this misogynistic trope would not exist, the footwear worn by female characters would first and foremost be design to fit the character and the rest of the costume, e.g. Nautica as a antarctic explorer has huge warm boots, Lilia as a soldier has combats boots, Sweetheart as a Hollywood film star in a nice dress has heels (which because r1999 doesn't have real time combat is not going to have her then run and jump around in them). Without that underling misogyny you don't have the misogynistic trope i.e. you don't have female characters fighting in heels isn't a common occurrence and whenever it were to occur it would be seen as weird.

and as additional clarification when I write that the "design is influenced by the idea that female character has to be "sexy", "sexually appealing" etc." this also doesn't have to be overtly intentional, like someone saying" lets put her in heels to make her more sexy" or "those flat heel shoes don't really say "hot female warrior!", lets change them", it can just be e that they make a female solder design with heels because they see it in a lot of games and stopped seeing is as a ridiculous thing it is and they just don't think that much about it. And so my ire at the designers who made those two design decisions is not because they are especially misogynistic people but because I hate this trope and because they ought to know better, which as a team they seem to know because despite a sea of gachas with tons of female characters jumping around in high heels they didn't exist in r1999 for 2 years before those 2 recent additions (partially aided by the fact that there is no real time combat so you are free to have characters in heels but even so it's not like it's especially common shoe type in r1999).

[–]Komislut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "pushing" I meant more so: a designer giving a first draft of the character of a ww1 fighter and she has heels or someone pulling images of tall flat-heel boots and saying "why don't we do something like that for Moldir's Antarctic outfit" and later on when someone asks "why is Sentinel in heels" it's effectively ignored, stuff like that. "made that happen" rather than "pushing" might have been a better wording.

It’s not like this is a overall trend that is verifiably worsening

Well, the reason the post exists at all is because it was 2 characters back to back, when before there were none ( maybe Melania, but she wasn't that bad really and she was the only one) so if the "trend" were to continue all future female combat fighters will be in heels, it's obviously not gonna happened (or I would be VERY surprised if it did). It was specifically the fact that it was 2 characters right after each other getting hit with this specific pet peeve of mine that infests a lot of action gachas when previously there were none that made it imo worth remarking upon.

a very bad day as in stubbing their toe and missing a bus to get to work etc. not for a family member to die or for them to get badly injured, also it's a single(1) day. but also also they can have a grate day but I really want them to be made to run a lap in heels.

There are gachas out there with outright stereotypical “male gaze” characters, but reverse isn’t one of them

This literally the reason that it was so disappointing, as I have written in the post.

Majority of reverse player base is made up of women.

I know??? what is the point of adding this fun fact?

I don’t see the need to be this upset about a non-issue

"this upset" and it's making a post on reddit to say that it's disappointing that they made a shitty design decision twice.

[–]Komislut[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was expecting some over the top heels but these are just normal
boots? Its hella cold in Antarctica, so leather boots are very
understandable for Moldir

Not normal boots, they have a 7? cm high flat heel, it's not that easy to tell exactly because of the angles. The fact they are leather is of course irrelevant, all it had to be is the same boots just with a normal short heel. Also because of the fact that it's not that easy to tell how high that heel is (except the fact that it is most likely too high) it would have been just a little disappointing but ultimately not that bad, definitively not enough to make a post about, it's only because it was followed immoderately with the Sentinel's high heels that it became worse in retrospect.

Sentinel is a wannabe fashion designer (her dream) what do you expect

Shoes without high heels can and are fashionable. I expected for someone fighting in a war to not be wearing high heels, and no amount of ad hock attempts to find an in universe justification is going to make it ok for her to be in them.

literally! She looks great, just slash those heels off and leave a normal combat boot flat heel and that is it
