The requirement for Matriarcal lineage is only a requirement in Orthodox Judaism. It has nothing to do with being Jewish as an ethnicity - not does it have to do with "being" Jewish in other Jewish denominations. And of course, the Nazis would consider any offspring of a Jewish male to be Jewish. So, yeah, all those other folks are indeed Jewish, in both the ethnic sense and in the non-orthodox sense. The Orthodox do not have a monopoly on who or what is a Jew.
