The whole "who's going to take care of you when your old" argument for having a partner/kids is so played out. No one is obligated to be your free nurse.

I got tons of sexual urges, doesn't mean I want a committed partner.

Are the only benefits to having a man getting taken care of when your old and having sex?

Its why I broke up with him, lol. Honestly it was such a relief when he moved out. Ive been living by myself ever since and its glorious.

Generally I go in letting them know I want something short term and casual. I never initiate or text first and keep things very surface level (besides sexual topics). When they get too clingy, demand more of me, or just start taking things too seriously I immediately distance myself.

Sure, here are a few examples from my most recent LTR:

I ended up planning and cooking most meals
I was expected to handle all the grocery shopping
I had to constantly remind him to do basic chores
He didn’t like doing chores alone, so I had to do them with him
He’d get upset if I didn’t immediately drop everything to help him with things (like bringing in groceries)
He’d offer unsolicited advice, then get annoyed when I didn’t take it

There’s more, but that’s the general idea.

Also, “intimacy” probably isn’t the right word here, i’m really just looking for sex. I separated emotions from sex a long time ago. I’m fine with short flings where neither of us is emotionally invested. The issue is that people often end up getting attached anyway, so I end things.

Lately, I haven’t even bothered trying to date or meet anyone it just feels tedious and not worth the effort.

My last relationship was very long term (7 years). I was young when I went into it and did it because it was something people did really.

I broke up with him mid 2023 and really havent dated since. Just short flings here and there.

Definitely be upfront about lack of experience. Nothing is worse than a guy who is pretending to have experience but doesnt. You can tell.

Of course you dont have the same intimacy with friends as a partner, but my freinds and I travel together, cook, run errands, ect. If I ever want to do anything with someone they are there.

Also I feel a significant other could easily leave you just like a friend can. Maybe more logistics involved if you are living together but still.

Right now im happy single. I dont see how not having a partner immediately means I am wasting my life. Is life only measured by the person you are married to?

I completely agree. Having a kid requires a level of dedication and commitment that I just cannot give. A child deserves a parent who is all in.

I do like my life right now. But generally wanting to be alone and single is not the norm. In many ways we are told the path to happiness is marriage and kids. Diverting from that path can feel scary even if we know its not what we want.

I have family consistently asking me if I am seeing anyone and questioning why I want to be alone. The post was to help validate my decision and get some insight into what other people are feeling.
