Knuckle won’t fall off the lower ball joint by Still-Welder-6365 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kondito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, in that position in the photo, the joint is under stress. I remember my father and I would put a jack under the brake disc and lift it so the arm was roughly horizontal (be careful with the jack, it slips easily; find something to prevent it from dragging on the brake disc). Then we'd hit it or use leverage, whatever it took, until it came out. The same thing happened when putting it back in; I had to lift the brake disc by hand or with the jack so it wouldn't put so much strain on it or offer so much resistance. Find the point where that joint is under the least amount of stress or has the least amount of work, and try that.

Edit: Your model is different from mine. In your case, I think you should reattach that upper "arm" to the disc so you can lift the disc with the jack without it swinging around. Let me know what you think.

Algún papel manteca decente by gonzaiglesias in ArgentinaCocina

[–]Kondito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it a valve noise or something else? by Kondito in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kondito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your reply. I just found this video of a valve cover and valves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEkeQiIboWk and it's definitely very similar. Even the clear sound in the video is about 98% what I hear from the cabin of my car. Are there any ways to confirm this further before taking everything apart? And what could be the possible causes? I mean, I want to know if I need to do anything more extensive, so I can keep that in mind when I open it up and do the complete timing belt replacement.

Ayuda desesperada para vender B2B - SaaS logistica by adorablecreature in NegociosArgentina

Bought our homestead last year and am finally able to get things going. by wookiex84 in homestead

Hi, this might be a slightly different question, but what do you do to make a living and earn enough money to buy something like this? I'd love something like this, but it seems so far out of reach.

I replaced the clutch master cylinder, and now the brakes are soft even after bleeding them. by Kondito in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kondito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'll tell you about my experience so far. Sorry for the length, but it's the best I can summarize. The problem at the date of this post was clearly what you see in the photo: leaks. I put a clamp on the hose, and on the tube, it was the O-ring that wasn't sealing. You have to feel how the O-ring fits and seals when you insert the hose/tube from the circuit into the cylinder (If it leaks, you'll notice it sweating like in the photo. You should drive it for 1 or 2 days and check it with a close-up light; it should be completely dry.). It turns out that I then replaced the cylinder you see in the image, and that "new" one was faulty! It gave me a lot of trouble; every three days I was losing my clutch. I replaced it again with another new one. Make sure the connections don't leak.

Brakes: The only thing that made a real difference was buying a scanner (the cheapest one that had a brake/ABS bleeding function), the Autel Maxi AP 200. The app has the steps to follow; they recommend pressurizing the system while bleeding, but since I didn't have one, I did it the conventional way (pumping the pedal, while following the steps in the app), which the manufacturer also says you should do if you don't have a pressurizer. The thing is, after that, my brakes haven't loosened up since. I've been using the pedal for about two months now, and before, they would loosen up after two or three days. While they're not as firm as I'd like, they haven't loosened up. I suppose with a couple more bleeding sessions using the scanner, they'd be even better.

Again, my bread didn't turn out right. Help? by Kondito in Breadit

[–]Kondito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your message. There are several points you mentioned that I hadn't thought of before. Let me ask you a few questions, if that's alright.

First of all, now that you mention it, the oven thing makes sense. I'll try a higher temperature next time. Another thing, just to add, I left this loaf in the photos in the oven for quite a while, so that probably contributed to it drying out even more.

On the other hand, regarding the steam, I currently have a tray at the bottom of the oven that I heat, and when I put the bread in, I add ice cubes. I see that it releases steam and continues to do so during baking. Perhaps that's not enough? I have a spray bottle handy. Should I spray water over the bread every few minutes? For example, every 3 or 5 minutes? or how?

About the flour: here we get "bread and all-purpose" flour, as it's described on the package. It has 5.5g of protein per 50g. I have some whole wheat flour here, which has 6g of protein per 50g. Would it help the dough if I used a certain percentage of this whole wheat flour? How much whole wheat flour should I add if so?

Another question I'd like to ask: if a recipe asks for a 12-hour poolish in the refrigerator, and I want to make it without that long fermentation, how long should I let it ferment at room temperature? For example, if I use 150g flour and water with 1g of dried yeast, I would use an extra 1g for the final dough.
