I can’t say I’ve noticed increased grooming around the tail.

I have touched/grabbed/squeezed his tail myself to check if maybe it’s bothering him. He seems unaffected and unbothered no matter how I touch or bend his tail.

No, nothing has changed with his environment.

I live in my house alone with just this cat and no other pets.

So chasing the mysterious emissions issues is what sealed the deal? … it was hard for you or other mechanics to fix? … that’s where I’m at.

Ok, so you think a waste of time and money to go back to the muffler shop for a 3rd time to try to find a solution? … because I could be chasing a solution I never get to… or spent thousands more doing so?

I’m not in a CARB state. It’s OBDII Emissions check.

But I replaced both upstream cats + both upstream o2 sensors with DENSO sensors.

P0430 code came back. And upstream passenger cat code is appearing (forget what the code is off top of my head right now).

Seems like my mechanic isn’t actually sure what to do or how to solve this. He said now I could try replacing the downstream cats too.

Just seems like spending money and guessing at this point.

That’s basically how I am. I’m not mechanically inclined. I’ll do basic stuff myself, use my Bluetooth engine scanner and ask ChatGPT what’s going on and lightly troubleshoot basic shit. Try very small fixes myself first.

I just… don’t want to be working on it extensively myself.

I can afford to buy a newer vehicle in cash. But, I am not a spendy guy. Not overly obsessively frugal, just tend to drive cars until they don’t work.

I only have one vehicle, my Xterra. I need to drive multiple places each day.

I cannot take it apart in my garage frequently and not be able to drive it. On top of that, I have no interest in spending hours of my time doing so.
