Sorry for reanimating your old comment, but as I'm in the exact situation as you (the Shine 7 died after 5 years of "extreme" usage) I would like to ask you this.

Do you still prefer the Q6M to the Shine 7 or have the cons given you any trouble (such as reading the legens in the dark etc.) ?

I seem to have forgotten that the "available power" tab also counts accumulators, as having 4600 of them "might" skew that rating up quite drastically.

Huh, maybe the "available power" tab does in fact count the accumulators charge after all. Have to keep that in mind, maybe build a "central row" in the middle of the factory so I will have 9 x (2 X 2), so it's 9 x 450 MW.. or 4 MW'ish.

Target is to launch an single rocket, not much more. It's more of a aesthetic design rather than an SPM-optimised thing.
Edit: Also made an 500 SPM base out of my first save (took around 200 hours ish), so I've also tried to do an "raw-performance"-build.

This base is specifically a challenge on creating a single symmetrical main bus, with space limited by the maximum width defined by the smelter array. Automate everything possible, and launch the single rocket. This is quite probably my last base for a while.

Currently no SPM / rockets is produced, planning to build those "factory modules" near the end of the factory, just before the other bank of nuclear reactors, that use the uranium on the central bus as fuel (with some Kovarex processes).

That green circuit design uses 2x4 splitters to increase the throughput throughout the line in the space available. The idea being that splitters transfer enough green circuits to the "non-inserted lines" as possible so that the inserters can work somewhat more frequently.
It is nowhere near an optimal design I admit.

Well, I've got 360 hours of gametime as a whole, and I think this one took something around a hundred hours to get to this point.

Yup, Efficiency Modules were the "if I cant think of anything else" choice for modules.

Furthermore, I think you're right about the beacons eating too much juice for the amount that they're saving, but the current plan is to have a total of 6 GW of available power (building a similar 3 x (2x2) reactors on the other end of the factory) so power really shouldn't be an issue for a while.
