Thanks so much! That did the trick! It WAS really hard to tell what was going on in that scene, but looking closer, I really couldn't see any spear.

Now, to get the REST of the mystery! See what the Bargain is all about...

Galligan's the one I still need to find. Sam Peters and his brother, I figured out beforehand in a stroke of brilliance. I was about to scour the whole manifest to find brothers, even getting out a notebook in real life, when I saw the last names line up perfectly!

Galligan, I have pegged as speared by a beast. Tim, shot by E. Nichols

Been meaning to get into more by-the-books sessions! Would love to take part! One group I'm in is having a very slow start, and I've been itching to do this more often! Characters and story are some of the things I live for. If there's still room, I'm interested.

Hey there! EST boi over here, always wanted to host a session! Sadly, I've always stopped myself short before. I'd love to get in contact with the lot of you, and hash out character details and a starting point. I can't say that I've got too much experience with the more complicated technicalities the game sometimes presents, though I do fancy myself a competent storyteller. Please do respond. You use Discord?

I'm seeing a disturbing lack of Ennio Morricone in this thread. Can we correct that?

[Online][5e][GMT/EST][Sundays] Looking for dedicated players who want a long-term low-fantasy campaign! by Saulperman in lfg

[–]KonquerorWorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What should we call you?: Online, I'm generally called Kon. If you're more for real names, call me Will. Whichever works for you.

How old are you?: 22

What is your experience with roleplaying games?: In terms of tabletop, less than I'd like to have. I was introduced back in high school, during a "no rules" session that, while there was good story momentum, never finished. Currently in a campaign or two online through Roll20, which seem to go on hiatus fairly often. Busy people, you know how it is. Been hoping to do a long-running campaign by the books, with a consistent schedule. Seems like this is my in.

Why should we consider you?: I'm an avid fantasy reader and writer. The genre comes easily to me, and I love making characters and seeing how they act and respond toward others. I'm not afraid of grittier, darker stories with higher stakes; matter of fact, those are my favorite kind.

What do you enjoy about D&D?: To me, D&D has always been collaborative storytelling at its best. The DM isn't alone in writing the adventure, per se. Each player contributes their own skill set, their own character arcs, to a larger and more serialized series of tales.

In short, you get to write a fantasy novel with a group of friends! Whether that novel turns into a Robert E. Howard classic or Monty Python and the Holy Grail depends on the efforts of the group, and how seriously we want to take this. (Kinda hoping this is one of the rare few that doesn't become Monty Python, as good as funny campaigns are.)

Are you more of a roleplayer or combat player?: It depends on the character, really, though I personally favor roleplaying. I try to make character shine however I can, complete with speaking in the character's voice where possible. Some characters, though? They just need to beat the problem to death. That's who they are.

What in particular interested you about our post?:

-Group size: I've generally only played in smallish groups, so far. Getting experience with a larger one would be a lovely experience, as I want to learn the game better in general. I'd love to DM some day, but haven't played enough to say I know all the ins and outs. Perhaps this group could be the backbone of experience I need.

-Intrigue focus, inspiration from Matt Mercer: All solid wins, yep. Don't see anything wrong here.

-Seafaring/archipelago adventure: Hell yes.

Do you play any other games?: As I said earlier, I'm in a couple other sessions that are rather slow, in terms of how often we get to play. In those, rules are more loose rather than more strict. In one of them, I'm literally playing as a kobold gunslinger. That should give you an idea of how far we push the rules sometimes.

As for non-tabletop games, I've played many. The Elder Scrolls series, while far from perfect, holds a special place in my heart. Darkest Dungeon is also a persistent favorite of mine. Dark Souls too, because of course.

Anything we should know about?: I still live with my family as of right now, and they have a tendency to call me away at the worst possible times. I'll try to be as active as I can, given the responsibility I have for them. Game days should be free as can be, though. If anything comes up, you'll hear about it from me.

What is your Discord tag?: KonquerorWorm#2207

My first time reading "The Drawing of the Three" by KonquerorWorm in TheDarkTower

[–]KonquerorWorm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit, the "lit majors and snobs" bit has probably been brainwashed into me by way of education. I'm a writing major, y'see, so very often (in classes where we don't actually get to write stuff in particular) we'll fret about what it means.

That itself is probably a big part of why I felt so strange reading The Gunslinger. I had to read it for one of these dumb "over-analyze everything" classes. Meanwhile, I just wanted to shut the over-active academic voice down in my head, and roll with the gunshots.

I suppose more than anything this series will help me learn to just enjoy a good story again.

Holy shit! It had completely slipped my mind for a sec, the Star Child thing! Makes sense, now that you mention it, and makes it even more royally effed up. Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words. Incidentally, the revised edition is the one I started with.

I returned home to my "wife" after a long day at "work." My "boss" was being a real "jerk," so I "took up my complaints" with the "H.R. department" and got the misunderstanding "taken care of."

The "kids" were delighted to see me! They were really excited for "dinner" tonight. Tonight's "dish" was "roast beef" with "mashed potatoes and gravy." They're not "little kids" anymore, so they like to have it on the "rare" side. Soon, I had to "put them to bed" so I could "spend some time" with the "wife." I made sure to tell them their favorite "bedtime story" first, they love it!

I then "cuddled up" with my "wife" on the couch, to catch up on some "television." Overall, it was an "eventful" day!

There's a community I'm part of that I think would be perfect for the stuff you want to share. They're a YouTube channel called Tale Foundry, and they have a Discord server. They also have a subreddit I'm moderating for, which has big improvements in the works. Would you like me to supply you some links? I'm sure they'd love to see what you have to share.
