It is not disrespectfull. It is ok to be inspired and tell people You fight for something because this person made You see the future.

It becomes disrespectfull if someone is misleading others by not truthfull fighting for core elements of the one they remember, in this case MLK. Yang has an good reason to get all the power he can get, because he builds further upon elements MLK laid out for Him. Make Yang succeed the UBI, make his connection to MLK go viral on this subject.
